Netflix games are included with an active Netflix membership, with no separate game fee, ads, or in-app purchases, according to Netflix. Some mobile games can be played offline after you download and install them, but offline support depends on the individual title. Netflix says games on TVs and computers need a stable internet connection.

Do Netflix games cost extra?

No. Netflix describes mobile games as included with a membership and says they have “No ads. No extra fees. No in-app purchases.” You still need an active Netflix membership to play; the games are a membership benefit, not a free service separate from Netflix. Can you play Netflix games offline?

Some downloaded mobile games support offline play, while others do not. Check the game’s own Netflix Help Center page and look for its “Offline play” field before counting on a particular title working without a connection. Netflix’s pages show that support varies: Sonic Mania Plus and Dead Cells: Netflix Edition are listed as offline-capable; Secrets by Episode is listed as not supporting offline play. These are examples, not a complete or permanent list; availability and support details can change.

How to prepare a mobile game for offline play

While connected to the internet, choose and download the game, then complete its installation. Netflix requires an internet connection for downloading and installing; make sure your device has enough storage.
Check that your device meets the requirements for that specific game. Netflix’s general mobile guidance covers Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad, but compatibility varies by title. See Netflix’s mobile games guidance.
Open the game’s page in the Netflix Help Center and confirm that “Offline play” is listed as “Yes.” You can search Netflix Help Center by the game’s title.
As a practical precaution, launch the game once while online before leaving connectivity. Netflix’s cited guidance establishes the internet requirement for installation, but does not state that a first online launch is a requirement for every title.

A title-specific caveat: Dead Cells saves

Although Netflix lists Dead Cells: Netflix Edition as playable offline, its support page says the game does not use cloud saves. Reinstalling it or switching devices means starting from the beginning. Offline availability and save behavior are separate details, so check the game’s support page for both when your progress matters. Dead Cells: Netflix Edition support page.
