Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11If DISM says “The repair content could not be found anywhere,” it could not access the files needed to repair the Windows image from an available source. That source may be Windows Update or a location you specified with /Source. The message alone does not identify the cause on your PC: check the exact error code, command, source, and logs before choosing a fix.
What the message means
DISM’s /RestoreHealth operation needs repair content. When Windows Update is allowed, it is the default repair source; you can also specify another location with /Source. The source must contain files that can satisfy the repair. Pointing DISM to an ISO or folder does not guarantee that it has the required content. Microsoft explains the source behavior in its Windows image repair guidance and repair-source configuration guidance.

Do not assume a particular error code from this wording. The code and the DISM or CBS log entries can help identify which source or package failed. A Microsoft Q&A post reports code 0x800f0915 in one user’s case, but that report is not enough to diagnose other PCs: Microsoft Q&A.
Start by checking the image and capturing the failure
- Record the complete command and error. Note the full error code, whether you used
/Sourceor/LimitAccess, and the exact source path. Do not substitute an error code reported by another user. - Check image health. In an elevated Command Prompt or Terminal, run
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth, thenDism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth. Microsoft says a repairable image can be repaired with/RestoreHealth; if DISM reports that the image is non-repairable, its guidance is to discard that image and start again. - Review the logs. Check the DISM and CBS logs for the failing package and source details. Use the entries alongside the command and error code rather than treating the headline message as a complete diagnosis.
Microsoft’s repair guidance also lists sfc /scannow as a quick check for an online image. It is a separate system-file check, not proof by itself that every component-store problem has been resolved.

Check whether Windows Update can supply the repair files
If you did not specify a source, Windows Update is the default repair source when policy permits it. Check that the PC can reach Windows Update and that organizational policy does not prevent it from being used. If your command includes /LimitAccess, remove that option only if you want DISM to be able to use Windows Update: Microsoft documents that /LimitAccess prevents Windows Update from serving as either the primary or backup repair source for an online image.
If you specify a local or network source, verify its contents
Microsoft documents several source forms, including mounted Windows images, WIM files, and SxS folders on removable installation media or network shares. The appropriate form depends on the operation. For a WIM source, specify the image index and use the Wim: prefix. See Microsoft’s repair-source documentation for supported forms and syntax.

- Confirm the path. Make sure the drive, share, mounted image, or folder exists and is the source you intended to use.
- Check the servicing level. Microsoft warns that repair can fail if the target Windows installation is patched to a higher level than the source. A source that is behind may not contain the files the target needs.
- Check language components. Required language packs for supported locales must be present in the source.
- Verify the WIM index. If you use a WIM, confirm that the selected index identifies the intended image and that the command uses the documented
Wim:form.
A local source can be used in a command such as Microsoft’s documented example: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:testmountwindows /LimitAccess. Replace the example path with the actual source on your PC. This syntax does not establish that a particular ISO or image contains suitable repair files for your Windows installation.

Choose the next step from what you find
- Windows Update is allowed and reachable: retry without
/LimitAccessif your intention is to let DISM use Windows Update, and note the resulting code if the repair still fails. - You need an offline or managed source: verify its path, servicing level, language components, and—if applicable—WIM index before retrying with
/Source. - DISM reports a non-repairable image: follow Microsoft’s guidance to discard that image and start again rather than repeating the same source attempt.
- The cause remains unclear: use the full error code and DISM/CBS log entries to narrow down the failed package or source. A local ISO is one possible source route, not a guaranteed fix.
