The Dimplex DCP40EB is a 3.8 kW portable air conditioner with a manufacturer-stated room-size range of 18–26 m², a window kit and remote control in the box, and a two-year domestic warranty. Those figures come from Dimplex’s published specifications, not independent performance testing. Its Wi-Fi status is unclear: Dimplex’s specification sheet says Wi-Fi is available, but its instruction manual says it is not. Confirm the exact unit or revision before buying if app control matters.
What the DCP40EB is—and what this review can establish
The DCP40EB is a Dimplex portable air conditioner documented in Australian manufacturer materials. Dimplex describes it as Arctic White/Anthracite. The available public information supports a specifications-led assessment, but it does not establish how quickly the unit cools a room, how much energy it uses in practice, or how its noise compares with other models under controlled conditions.

Dimplex Australia publishes the model’s specifications and manual. CHOICE’s DCP40EB page identifies it as tested, but its public listing restricts several performance fields to members. Its visible information is not enough to report a measured result or an overall test verdict.

Dimplex’s manual repeats the 3.8 kW cooling and 1.8 L/hour dehumidification figures and advises checking the rating label for greater precision. Manufacturer figures describe the product as specified; they are not a promise of a particular result in every room or climate.
What room size is it intended for?
Dimplex specifies a room-size range of 18–26 m². Treat that as manufacturer guidance, not an independently established coverage limit. A room’s sunlight, insulation, ceiling height, heat-producing equipment, outdoor temperature and how well the exhaust hose is fitted can all affect the cooling outcome. A room near the upper end of the stated range may therefore be a less reliable fit when it has substantial heat gain.

Does the DCP40EB have Wi-Fi?
The available Dimplex documents disagree. The August 2025 specification sheet lists Wi-Fi through Glen Dimplex Connect, while the version 3 instruction manual’s model comparison table marks Wi-Fi unavailable for the DCP40EB. The conflict is unresolved in those documents.

If Wi-Fi is important, ask the retailer to verify the feature for the exact model revision being sold, or check the individual unit and its documentation before relying on app control. Do not assume that a feature listed for Dimplex portable air conditioners generally applies to this model.
What comes in the box?
Dimplex lists a window kit and remote control as included. Check that the supplied kit suits your window and the installation arrangement you plan to use; the specification sheet does not establish compatibility with every window type. The unit is self-evaporative according to Dimplex’s specification sheet.

Noise, portability and installation considerations
Noise
Dimplex states a noise level of no more than 65 dB(A), but the public product information does not give a test condition that would make this directly comparable with another unit’s rating. CHOICE’s high-fan noise result and noise description are member-only on its public page, so there is no accessible independent noise result to report.

Moving and placing the unit
At a manufacturer-stated net weight of 24.5 kg, this is a substantial appliance to move. Its published dimensions are 285 × 335 × 698 mm (W × D × H). Check the intended placement and the path between rooms before purchase, especially if stairs or narrow openings are involved.

Exhaust setup
As a portable air conditioner, the DCP40EB needs an exhaust arrangement at a window; Dimplex lists a window kit in the box. Confirm that the kit can be installed at your window and that the hose can reach without obstructing the setup. The supplied information does not specify fit for particular window designs.
Price and independent review information
CHOICE’s public DCP40EB page displayed a price of $999 when accessed on 7 October 2026. The page does not state a publication date for that figure, and it should not be treated as a current retailer quote or proof of stock. Compare live Australian retailer listings for the exact model before deciding what it costs now.
CHOICE’s public page also shows a 3.8 kW cooling capacity, R290 refrigerant, a 25 kg weight, dimensions of 70 × 29 × 36 cm (H × W × D), and a window kit and remote control as supplied. Its weight and rounded dimensions differ from Dimplex’s specification sheet. These may reflect different reporting or rounding, but the available public material does not explain the discrepancy. For exact fit and handling, use the unit’s rating label and confirm measurements with the seller.

Who should consider the DCP40EB?
- Potential fit: Someone seeking a portable air conditioner whose room is within Dimplex’s stated 18–26 m² range, and who can use the included window kit.
- Check first: Anyone for whom Wi-Fi is essential, because Dimplex’s specification sheet and manual conflict.
- Consider carefully: Someone prioritising quiet operation or independently verified efficiency. The accessible information does not provide enough model-specific test detail to judge either.
- Plan for handling: Its stated 24.5 kg net weight makes placement and movement worth considering in advance.
Verdict
The DCP40EB has a useful published specification set: 3.8 kW cooling capacity, a stated 18–26 m² room range, a window kit and remote in the box, and a two-year domestic warranty. But those are manufacturer claims, and accessible public evidence does not establish real-world cooling, energy efficiency or comparative noise. The unresolved Wi-Fi contradiction is the key buying check. It is best assessed as a plausible option on paper when its stated room range and portable format suit your space—not as a proven high-performing or app-connected model.
