What the Dimplex DCP26EB offers
The DCP26EB is a cooling-only portable air conditioner. The cited sources do not identify a heating mode. Dimplex Australia’s August 2025 manual lists a 2.6 kW cooling capacity and recommends it for rooms of 8–16 m². That area is manufacturer guidance, not a guarantee: results can vary with the room’s layout, insulation, sun exposure and heat load.

CHOICE lists rounded dimensions of 70 × 33 × 27 cm (H × W × D) and a weight of 21 kg. These figures are broadly consistent with the manual’s measurements, allowing for rounding and different dimension order. The manual’s measurements and the individual unit’s rating label are the better references for fitting or checking a particular appliance.

What independent testing says
CHOICE’s 2026 article Portable air conditioners to avoid buying lists the DCP26EB with a 50% Expert Rating and recommends crossing it off the shopping list. CHOICE says the models in that low-scoring group did not score above 40% for cooling and were rated noisy or very noisy by experts. That is a group-level statement: the accessible material does not provide a model-specific cooling sub-score or a precise noise rating for the DCP26EB.
CHOICE’s DCP26EB review page lists a price of A$699, but that is a page-listed figure accessed on 7 October 2026, not a current retailer offer. Its detailed test breakdown is member-only, so the available information supports CHOICE’s overall negative verdict but not a closer analysis of the individual test components.

The available ProductReview.com.au category page lists the exact DCP26EB with no reviews. Feedback shown for other Dimplex portable-air-conditioner families should not be treated as owner experience with this model.
Installation: plan for the exhaust and your window
Like other portable air conditioners that exhaust hot air, the DCP26EB needs a hose routed to a nearby window. The manual’s setup sequence is to attach the housing adapter and window connector to the exhaust hose, secure the adapter to the back of the appliance, and place the other end at a nearby windowsill.

iBuys says the package includes a sliding-window kit, but a kit that works for one window may not fit another. Check your window style and the contents of the exact package before relying on the included connector. The retailer listing also advertises a two-year domestic warranty; confirm warranty terms in the documentation supplied with your unit.
Drainage and ongoing use
The manual describes a self-evaporative system for collected condensation, but it does not mean drainage can never be needed. In high humidity, excess water may need to be drained. The unit switches off automatically if its internal tank fills, so follow the manual’s drainage instructions if that happens.

Should you buy the DCP26EB?
The DCP26EB has useful conveniences on paper, including app control, a remote and a timer, and its stated room range may fit a small room. The stronger decision point is the independent verdict: CHOICE’s 50% Expert Rating and inclusion among models to avoid make it difficult to recommend on specifications alone. Consider it only after weighing that assessment against your need for portable cooling, checking that the exhaust kit suits your window, and comparing independent cooling and noise assessments for other options.
