The Dimplex DCP20FS is a compact, 2.0 kW portable air conditioner rated by Dimplex for rooms of 4–16 m². It includes Wi-Fi control, a remote and a window kit, but cooling performance and real-world noise have not been independently verified in the available sources. As with other exhaust-hose portable air conditioners, it needs a nearby window or opening to send warm air outside while cooling.
What the DCP20FS offers
Dimplex Australia lists the DCP20FS in Arctic White/Black as a single-hose portable unit with cooling, dehumidification and fan functions. The manufacturer’s published specifications are a useful guide to its intended use, not independent test results.

Dimplex Australia’s specification sheet is the source for these product figures. The official manual’s model table lists the depth as 330 mm rather than 335 mm. If a few millimetres matter for a particular space, check the unit’s rating label or confirm dimensions with the seller; Dimplex advises using the rating label for greater precision. The DCP20FS manual provides the alternate figure.

Dimplex states a room range of 4–16 m² for the 2.0 kW unit. Treat that as the manufacturer’s intended range, not a promise of a particular temperature drop or cooling time. The available product material does not establish how quickly it cools a real room, how it performs in high ambient heat, or how much energy it uses in use.

Room area is only one part of choosing a portable air conditioner. Consider the room’s heat load and whether you can route the exhaust hose through a nearby window or opening. No independently tested comparison with other models is available here, so there is no sound basis to rank the DCP20FS for cooling, noise, energy use or value against competitors.
Installation: the exhaust hose is essential for cooling
For COOL and DRY modes, the manual requires the exhaust hose to be installed. In cooling mode, the unit needs to sit near a window or other opening so it can expel warm air outdoors. The window slider kit and connector are listed as included, but check that the supplied arrangement suits your window.

- Place the unit on an even surface near the window or opening you will use for exhaust.
- Fit the supplied window slider kit and hose connector according to the manual.
- Route the hose outside, keeping it as short and straight as practical. Avoid sharp bends, sagging and kinks.
- Leave at least 50 cm between the unit and the nearest wall, as the manual recommends.
A poorly routed or obstructed hose can undermine the intended exhaust setup. If your window cannot accommodate the supplied kit, check compatibility before buying; the manual and specification sheet do not establish that every window type will fit.
Controls, timer and Wi-Fi
The manual describes COOL, DRY (dehumidifying) and FAN modes, plus sleep, two fan speeds, a timer and remote operation. The timer can be set from 0 to 24 hours according to Dimplex’s specification sheet. The display dims after 20 seconds without activity and can be woken by touching it.

Wi-Fi control uses Glen Dimplex Connect. The DCP20FS supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; the manual does not specify 5 GHz support. App setup may require Bluetooth and location permissions on your phone. If your home network is configured for 5 GHz only, the documented Wi-Fi requirement is a point to resolve before relying on app control.
Does self-evaporative mean no draining?
No. The self-evaporative system uses collected condensate during operation, but the manual also describes a water-full indicator, automatic shutdown and a manual drain procedure. The feature therefore does not guarantee that you will never need to empty water. Follow the manual’s drain instructions if the indicator appears.

The manual also calls for air-filter cleaning. Use it for the maintenance interval and safe cleaning procedure rather than guessing at a schedule.

What is—and is not—verified about performance
Dimplex publishes a noise figure of ≤65 dB(A), a cooling capacity of 2.0 kW, a 4–16 m² room range and a dehumidification capacity of 0.6 L/hour. These are manufacturer specifications; they are not independent measurements of noise, cooling speed or moisture removal in a home.

No credible firsthand test in the available sources establishes actual pull-down time, in-room sound level, energy draw, app reliability or performance in high ambient heat. Warranty and buying checks in Australia
Dimplex Australia’s specification sheet lists a two-year domestic warranty. A JB Hi-Fi listing displays one year, so confirm which warranty applies to the product, seller and market where you are buying. The retailer listing also has dimensions that differ from Dimplex’s current one-page sheet; use the manufacturer’s material as the main specification reference, and confirm details that affect fit or coverage with the seller.
