The Dimensity 9400+ and Snapdragon 8 Elite are flagship mobile platforms, but one benchmark score does not establish which is faster in every phone or workload. In a 91mobiles AnTuTu comparison, the Dimensity 9400+ scored 2,821,319 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite scored 2,810,079—a narrow lead for MediaTek in that publication’s test, not a universal performance verdict.
How the two chipsets differ on paper
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9400+ on April 10, 2025. Its product page lists an Arm Cortex-X925 CPU with a maximum clock speed of 3.73 GHz, Wi-Fi 7 support, and on-device AI capabilities. Qualcomm announced the original Snapdragon 8 Elite on October 21, 2024, describing it as its first mobile platform with a next-generation custom Oryon CPU. Qualcomm’s product materials also identify an Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU.

What the published AnTuTu comparison says
91mobiles reports AnTuTu scores of 2,821,319 for the Dimensity 9400+ and 2,810,079 for the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Dimensity result is higher by 11,240 points in that comparison. The figures are publication-tested results reported by 91mobiles and accessed in 2026; they should be read as one comparison, not a controlled, universal ranking of the chips.
The available comparison information does not establish equivalent handsets, software versions, benchmark protocol, thermal state, sample size, or repeatability. Those conditions can affect results, so the small gap does not prove a noticeable everyday-speed advantage, better gaming, or longer battery life. Why one aggregate score cannot settle the choice
AnTuTu combines multiple kinds of performance into one score. A close aggregate result cannot show whether one platform leads in CPU single-core or multi-core work, graphics, sustained gaming, AI tasks, or power and thermal behavior. Those are separate questions and need matching tests and conditions.
- CPU: Compare single-core and multi-core results from the same benchmark version and clearly identified phones.
- Graphics and gaming: Look for GPU tests and sustained play, not just a short peak score; cooling and phone configuration matter.
- AI: Check the specific on-device task and supported features rather than inferring AI performance from a platform name or aggregate score.
- Power and heat: Seek tests that identify the handset and describe sustained workload, temperatures, and battery impact.
Geekbench’s Android results are observations across individual phones and tablets, not controlled chipset-only measurements. A leaderboard entry can help compare devices, but it does not isolate the processor from handset design and configuration. See the Geekbench Android benchmark results.

How to compare phones that use these platforms
If you are choosing between two actual phones, compare the complete devices rather than treating the chipset as the whole product. Use results from the same benchmark version and, where possible, matched test conditions.
- Confirm the exact phone and chipset variant. Regional versions and manufacturer configurations may differ; check each device’s official specifications.
- Match the tests. Compare the same CPU and GPU benchmark versions, and keep the handset and software context attached to each result.
- Check sustained behavior. Look for longer gaming or workload tests that report performance over time, surface temperature, and battery impact.
- Assess features that matter to you. Verify the phone’s AI functions, connectivity support, camera implementation, and software support rather than assuming these are identical across devices with the same platform.
- Compare ownership factors. Price and availability depend on the specific model and region; neither follows from the chipset comparison alone.
How to read manufacturer performance claims
Qualcomm’s materials make performance and efficiency claims against Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while noting that outcomes vary with OEM implementation and other factors. That is a vendor’s generation-over-generation comparison, not an independent head-to-head result against the Dimensity 9400+. MediaTek executive JC Hsu likewise described the Dimensity 9400+ as intended to support on-device AI experiences and overall performance; that statement is a company claim, not benchmark evidence. The quoted statement appears in the Omdia April 2025 report.
