But the available evidence does not establish a reliable numerical benchmark winner in real phones: a fair comparison would need matched devices and test conditions.
Dimensity 9000 Plus vs Dimensity 9500s at a glance
These are not contemporaneous chips. MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9000+ on June 22, 2022, and the Dimensity 9500s on January 15, 2026. The generation gap matters: the newer chip’s specification advantages do not, by themselves, quantify how much faster a particular phone will feel or perform.

Which chip has the faster CPU?
The Dimensity 9500s has the newer CPU arrangement: one Cortex-X925 core, three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. The 9000+ uses one Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 cores. MediaTek lists maximum clocks of 3.73GHz for the 9500s X925 and 3.2GHz for the 9000+ X2, but the clock figures alone do not show a direct performance ratio because the core designs differ.

This architecture and clock information favors the 9500s as the newer CPU platform. It does not prove how large a speed difference will be in a specific handset, where cooling, power limits, software and workload also matter.
How do the GPUs and gaming claims compare?
The 9000+ lists an Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU; the 9500s lists Arm Immortalis-G925. MediaTek says the 9500s GPU may be configured with 11 or 12 cores depending on the phone maker, so there is not one identical implementation to assume across all devices.

MediaTek’s January 19, 2026 blog claims gameplay up to 165 FPS or power-optimized 120+ FPS in demanding titles. These are vendor feature claims, not proof that every game or phone reaches those rates; title, settings, device implementation and sustained thermal behavior affect results. Compare actual phone models and sustained game tests rather than treating GPU family names or peak frame-rate claims as a device-level verdict.
Is the Dimensity 9500s faster in benchmarks?
No directly comparable benchmark result for the 9000+ and 9500s was established in the available evidence. That means a numerical winner cannot be responsibly named here. Scores taken from different phones, benchmark versions, software builds, performance modes or cooling conditions would not isolate the chip difference.

MediaTek’s 2022 claim that the 9000+ improved CPU performance by more than 5% and GPU performance by more than 10% compares it with the non-plus Dimensity 9000, not with the 9500s. It should not be used as evidence for this matchup. ( MediaTek’s 9000+ announcement.)
A useful future comparison should identify both handset models and their memory/storage configurations, OS and benchmark versions, performance settings and test date. It should also state whether results are peak runs or sustained tests and include thermal conditions. CPU, GPU and overall-system tests answer different questions; one aggregate score cannot describe all performance.

What do the process, memory and cache differences mean?
MediaTek describes the 9500s as a 3nm chip and the 9000+ as TSMC N4, or 4nm-class. The smaller process label is part of a broader generational change, but process names alone do not predict a handset’s battery life. Battery endurance depends on the whole phone, including its display, battery capacity, software and workload.

The 9500s supports LPDDR5X up to 10667Mbps, compared with up to 7500Mbps listed for the 9000+. MediaTek also lists UFS 4 with MCQ for the 9500s. The 9000+ page lists LPDDR5X support; the cited specifications do not establish a comparable storage implementation for the 9000+. These are platform ceilings and feature listings, not guarantees about a specific phone’s memory speed or storage.

Cache figures also need careful reading: MediaTek lists 8MB CPU L3 and 6MB system cache for the 9000+, while its 9500s specifications list 12MB L3 and 10MB SLC, and also describe 19MB CPU cache plus 10MB system cache. These labels and aggregations are not necessarily like-for-like, so the published totals should not be treated as a simple direct ratio.
Connectivity, cameras and AI: what the chip enables
Both platforms carry a vendor-stated maximum downlink claim of up to 7Gbps, but their modem generations differ: Release 16 for the 9000+ and Release 17 with 4CC-CA for the 9500s. Real network performance depends on carrier deployment and the phone’s implementation, not just the chipset specification. For local wireless, MediaTek lists Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 features for the 9000+, and Wi-Fi 7 for the 9500s.
On imaging and AI, the 9000+ specification lists NPU 590 and an Imagiq 790 ISP with 18-bit HDR and triple-camera capture features. MediaTek describes the 9500s as supporting generative reasoning and multimodal AI, and claims 8K Dolby Vision capture and 30fps focus tracking. These are platform capabilities; camera sensors, software and handset design determine which functions a phone actually offers.

If you are choosing solely by platform generation and published specifications, the Dimensity 9500s is the stronger-on-paper choice. That is not enough to rank two phones overall. No particular handset using either chip is identified in the cited official source set, and a phone decision also depends on the exact model, regional availability, current price, software support, sustained performance, battery tests, display and camera quality.
Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the exact handset before relying on a chipset feature: supported memory speed, GPU configuration, wireless functions and camera capabilities can vary by OEM. Then look for device-specific testing if sustained gaming speed or battery life is the deciding factor.
