Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe Dimensity 8500 is the newer design. On MediaTek’s official platform pages it uses eight Cortex-A725 CPU cores and a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU, while the Dimensity 8350 uses four Cortex-A715 cores, four Cortex-A510 cores and a Mali-G615 MC6 GPU. Benchmark results reported by 91mobiles put the 8500 Extreme well ahead on AnTuTu and Geekbench. Two qualifications matter from the start: MediaTek’s pages describe the base 8350 and 8500 platforms, not the “Ultra” and “Extreme” names, and the benchmark figures are that website’s device-tested highest scores, not a controlled lab comparison.
Which chip is which: naming and sources
The base Dimensity 8350 and Dimensity 8500 are documented on MediaTek’s own product pages, at https://www.mediatek.com/products/smartphones/mediatek-dimensity-8350 and https://www.mediatek.com/products/smartphones/mediatek-dimensity-8500. Neither page uses the suffixes “Ultra” or “Extreme.” Those variant names, along with the phones associated with each one and the benchmark scores, come from a 91mobiles comparison page at https://www.91mobiles.com/processor/mediatek-dimensity-8350-ultra-vs-mediatek-dimensity-8500-extreme.

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 8500 on January 15, 2026. The Dimensity 8350 predates it. Treat the suffix-level details as reported by 91mobiles, and treat the core counts, clock ceilings and memory limits as MediaTek’s platform figures. A phone maker may configure a chip differently, so the spec sheet of the phone you are considering is the final authority.

| Specification | Dimensity 8350 (MediaTek platform page) | Dimensity 8500 (MediaTek platform page) | What the difference means |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU cores | 4 x Cortex-A715 plus 4 x Cortex-A510 | 8 x Cortex-A725 (one core, three cores and four cores in tiered clock groups) | The 8500 drops the efficiency-class A510 cores and uses only A725 cores. |
| Peak CPU clocks | Cortex-A715 up to 3.35 GHz; A510 clock not stated | One A725 up to 3.4 GHz; three A725 up to 3.2 GHz; four A725 up to 2.2 GHz | Peak clocks show the ceiling, not how long a phone holds it. |
| GPU | Arm Mali-G615 MC6 | Arm Mali-G720 MC8 | Newer GPU family with two more listed cores. |
| Process node | 4 nm (per 91mobiles listing) | 4 nm (per 91mobiles listing) | The listed node is the same, so the node alone does not explain an efficiency difference. |
| Memory | LPDDR5X, up to 8533 Mbps | LPDDR5X, up to 9600 Mbps | These are platform maximums. Actual phones may run slower memory. |
| Storage | UFS 4.0 with MCQ | UFS 4 with MCQ | Both pages list MCQ, and the two pages use slightly different UFS labels. |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 | Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 | Same listed connectivity. Regional band support and antenna design vary by phone. |
CPU layout and clocks
The biggest structural change is the CPU. The 8350 pairs four higher-performance Cortex-A715 cores with four Cortex-A510 cores meant for light work and power saving. The 8500 removes that split and lists eight Cortex-A725 cores. Each core in the newer design is a later Arm generation, so the performance gap is not only about core count.

Peak clocks versus sustained speed
MediaTek’s 8500 page lists a 3.4 GHz peak for a single core, and 3.2 GHz for three more. Those numbers describe the ceiling the silicon can reach under suitable conditions. Sustained speed depends on how the phone’s cooling and power limits let the chip hold those clocks over a long session. The 8350’s Cortex-A510 clock is not stated on the page reviewed, so a direct clock-for-clock comparison across all eight cores is not possible from the official figures.
GPU and memory
The Mali-G720 MC8 in the 8500 has a newer architecture and eight cores against six on the 8350’s Mali-G615 MC6. The official pages do not provide a GPU clock for either chip, so the graphics advantage is an architectural and core-count claim. It is not a measured frame-rate claim.

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition
- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Memory limits are higher on the 8500, at 9600 Mbps against 8533 Mbps for LPDDR5X. That is roughly 12 percent more maximum bandwidth on paper. Phone makers choose the memory they actually install, so the 12 percent figure describes the platform ceiling only.

How to read these scores
- They are one-device maximums. Because each figure is the highest recorded for one device per variant, they show what that device achieved, not what an average unit of the chip delivers.
- They are not controlled. Cooling, memory configuration, firmware, power limits and the version of each benchmark app all affect results, and the page does not say these were held constant.
- The CPU gap is larger than the GPU gap. The AnTuTu GPU subscore differs by about 23 percent, far less than the CPU subscore’s gap. Synthetic GPU scores do not predict frame rates in specific games, so treat that spread as directional only.
- Geekbench multi-core shows the largest percentage gain. That reflects the switch to eight A725 cores, but multi-core results also depend on thermal throttling during the run.
Phones that use each variant
91mobiles associates the 8350 Ultra with the realme P3 Ultra and the 8500 Extreme with the Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G. Those associations describe which devices that site identifies with each variant. Availability depends on market, and the page does not establish how the two phones compare on price, display, battery or software support.

- Cooling design and any published sustained-performance testing from reviewers.
- Installed RAM and storage configuration, since the chip’s memory ceiling does not set what the phone ships with.
- Battery capacity, display type and refresh rate.
- Promised software update period from the manufacturer.
- Price and whether your region sells that exact chip variant, since the same model name can use different processors in different markets.
If a phone you are comparing lists the 8500 Extreme and another lists the 8350 Ultra, the official platform specifications and reported benchmark gap indicate a meaningful performance difference in favour of the 8500 for demanding multi-threaded work. For everyday use, the other items above often matter as much.
