What do “Plus” and “Energy” mean?
MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 product page documents the standard 7300 platform. Its May 30, 2024 announcement names the Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X, positioning the X for flip-style foldables with dual displays. It does not name a 7300 Plus. MediaTek’s June 25, 2024 article calls Dimensity 7300 Energy a chip “custom optimized for its use on OPPO’s latest Reno Series” and identifies the Reno12 and Reno12 Pro as its first phones.

That evidence supports treating Energy as an OPPO-oriented optimization label, not proof of a separate silicon design. “7300 Plus” appears in third-party handset and benchmark listings, but the sources reviewed do not provide an official MediaTek specification for a distinct Plus chip. A label-to-label comparison therefore cannot establish that the processors are fundamentally different.

MediaTek’s official 7300 platform support ceilings include a camera sensor up to 200MP, 4K video capture at 30fps, and displays up to WFHD+ at 120Hz or Full HD+ at 144Hz. These are chipset capabilities, not promises that a phone using the platform includes those camera, video, or display features. Phone makers choose and configure the actual components.
Benchmark scores: close results, not a controlled comparison
91mobiles describes its benchmark figures as coming from real-world testing of devices powered by each listed chip. The devices are not shown here as identical test platforms, so differences in phone hardware, cooling, software, memory configuration, and test conditions can affect results.

The Plus listing has an internal AnTuTu discrepancy: its key-spec area also shows 741,197, while its benchmark table shows 728,221. The comparison uses the table value and should be read with that inconsistency in mind. 91mobiles says the Energy AnTuTu figure is the highest it recorded among tested devices carrying that chip listing. The published figures are database results, not a same-phone laboratory comparison.

What MediaTek’s performance claims do—and do not—compare
In its 2024 launch announcement, MediaTek said the Dimensity 7300 series offered “20% faster FPS” and “20% improved energy efficiency” versus competitor alternatives. The same announcement said the 4nm process enables up to 25% lower power consumption in the A78 cores compared with the Dimensity 7050. These are vendor comparisons against other products or a prior chip, not measurements showing an advantage for Energy over Plus.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose between complete phone models rather than relying on the chipset label or a benchmark-listing maximum. MediaTek identifies OPPO Reno12 and Reno12 Pro as the first phones powered by Dimensity 7300 Energy. 91mobiles also associates Energy with OPPO Reno12 and realme 14 Pro, and lists realme 15 5G under Plus. These examples do not establish current pricing, availability in a particular country, or equivalence between regional versions.
- Performance: Look for testing of the exact phone, especially sustained gaming or other long workloads. Peak benchmark scores alone do not show how performance behaves after the device heats up.
- Memory and storage: Compare the RAM and storage configuration of the specific variants you can buy; chipset support does not guarantee a particular configuration.
- Battery and thermals: Compare capacity and independent battery or sustained-load testing for the handset. The available label-level figures do not establish which option lasts longer.
- Other phone features: Weigh display quality, camera hardware and processing, network bands for your carrier, software support, price, and local availability.
For a meaningful chip-only verdict, testing would need the same or equivalent phone hardware, benchmark versions, software, cooling, repeated runs, and sustained-load and battery measurements. The cited listings do not provide that controlled comparison.
