Recommended Free Tools
For digital signage, the right software depends on the screens and players you already have, the content you need to show, and the total cost for your screen count. Yodeck, ScreenCloud, OptiSigns, Rise Vision and NoviSign are five options to evaluate—not a verified ranking of the market’s most popular products. Confirm each platform’s compatibility, current features and pricing before committing.
What to compare before choosing digital signage software
Digital signage software lets you prepare, schedule and remotely manage visual content on one or more displays. A useful comparison starts with your actual setup rather than a vendor’s headline feature list.

- Playback compatibility: Check the exact TV operating system, media player or other playback device you plan to use. Support can vary by model and software version, and some services require a dedicated player.
- Content workflow: Decide whether you need templates, playlists, scheduled content, live streams, web pages, dashboards, widgets or spreadsheet-connected updates. Verify that the specific functions you need are available in the plan you would buy.
- Administration and reliability: If relevant, check for remote monitoring, user roles, multi-location control and offline playback. Do not assume these are included at every tier.
- Hosting and licensing: Compare the vendor’s licensing and hosting model, including whether the service is cloud-based or offers another arrangement. The LiveSign comparison treats hosting and licensing as meaningful selection criteria: its 2026 comparison.
- Total cost: Compare the same number of screens and the same billing interval. Account for minimums, hardware and any limits on free or entry-level plans.
For a spreadsheet-driven display, verify the actual connection method and refresh behavior rather than relying on a general claim that a platform supports integrations. For every short-listed tool, check the vendor’s current documentation for your exact devices and requirements.
Five digital signage tools to evaluate
The available comparisons identify these five platforms as candidates, but do not provide a consistent, independently verified feature matrix across all of them. Use the notes below to guide evaluation, not as proof that one is best for every buyer. The shortlist appears in LiveSign’s 2026 comparison and, for several platforms, Rise Vision’s comparison.

Yodeck
TechRadar describes Yodeck as a cloud-based signage platform. It reports that the single-monitor free-service route uses a Yodeck Player based on Raspberry Pi or an existing Raspberry Pi configured by the user; that means “free” software may still involve hardware or setup work. See TechRadar’s digital signage software overview for that description. If you already own a Raspberry Pi, confirm the supported model and configuration with Yodeck before relying on it.
ScreenCloud
ScreenCloud is included in the LiveSign and Rise Vision comparisons, but the material available here does not establish its current supported-player list, integrations, plan entitlements or per-screen price. Check those details against your intended setup before assigning it a place on your shortlist.
Rank #2

Upload content remotely, create playlists, schedule playback, manage multiple displays, split screens, and update promotions in real time. - 【700 Nits Commercial Display for 24/7 Business Use】Designed for continuous commercial operation, this 18.5-inch desktop digital menu board delivers 700 nits of brightness for clear visibility in cafés, restaurants, reception areas, and retail stores. - 【Built to Increase Customer Engagement】Transform your business with dynamic menus, promotional videos, product showcases, welcome messages, and advertising displays that capture customer attention better than printed signs. Ideal for restaurants, cafés, bakeries, retail stores, hotels, clinics, exhibitions, and other commercial environments.
OptiSigns
OptiSigns also appears in both comparisons. Treat integrations and required features as questions to verify: do not assume a particular integration, feature count or tier entitlement without checking the vendor’s current documentation and plan terms.
Rise Vision
Rise Vision’s comparison frames selection around pricing, hardware support, customer service and features. Those are useful criteria, not evidence that it wins on any one of them. Confirm the exact player support and plan details for your deployment.

How to compare costs without misleading yourself
There is no single comparable five-vendor price table established here: plans, inclusions and billing terms differ, and current vendor rates have not been verified. If you collect quotes, record the currency, monthly or annual billing basis, price per screen, number of screens, relevant user segment, included hardware and date checked. Make sure each quote covers the same deployment size and the features you actually need.
Rank #4

- Easy setup: Setup one or multiple Signage Sticks with the free Amazon Signage app. No tech skills needed.
- Works with over 80+ content management systems (CMS subscription may be required).

- Manage on the go: Create profiles, organize by location, and monitor real-time right from your phone.
LiveSign says it checked competitors’ published figures on 7 September 2026; that is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of current rates (LiveSign comparison). DigitalSignage.com describes a 2026 per-screen pricing dataset with checks through 4 October 2026 and links to vendor pricing pages (DigitalSignage.com pricing dataset). Because prices, bundles and free-tier terms may change, use vendor pricing pages for the final decision.

Check hardware before buying or subscribing
Compatibility is a purchase prerequisite: a display that can show video is not necessarily a supported signage player. Confirm the exact model, operating system and software version with the vendor, and check whether a dedicated player is required. Do not assume a generic media player or any Raspberry Pi model will work with every platform.

For Yodeck’s single-screen free route, TechRadar describes a Yodeck Raspberry Pi-based player or a user-configured Raspberry Pi as the playback requirement (TechRadar overview). If you need a player, “Raspberry Pi digital signage player” is a relevant search phrase, not a compatibility guarantee. Verify the supported hardware and setup instructions before ordering.
Quick Recap
A practical selection sequence
