Devart announced dbForge 2026.2 on September 23, 2026, with the standout addition in its PostgreSQL Studio: a debugger for stored code and visual editors for functions, procedures, and event triggers. Across several dbForge tools, the release also adds AI Assistant context options, SQL editing shortcuts, quick data generation, and schema-comparison reporting changes.
Release timing and scope
Devart’s announcement covers its dbForge product family, rather than a single application. The official component revision histories list version 2026.2.54 dated September 22, 2026; the company published its announcement the following day. The changes described below are vendor-reported release features, not independent performance or productivity test results. Devart’s dbForge 2026.2 announcement and the PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and dbForge Edge revision histories provide the release details.

What PostgreSQL users get
Debugger for routines
dbForge Studio for PostgreSQL adds a built-in debugger. Devart says it can pause at breakpoints, step through code, inspect variables, expressions, and query results, and highlight the line where an exception occurs. These capabilities are intended to help developers trace execution in PostgreSQL code without relying solely on manual inspection.
Visual editors for database objects
The PostgreSQL Studio release also adds visual editors for functions, procedures, and event triggers. That gives users a graphical way to work with those objects alongside the new debugger. The revision history lists both the debugger and the editors in version 2026.2.54. See the PostgreSQL Studio revision history.

AI Assistant: more context and model selection
Devart says the AI Assistant can now take additional context, including attached files, active documents, sample code, and multiple databases. The announcement also says users can select a model. That may be useful when a question depends on a particular schema or code sample, but the release announcement does not establish the accuracy or quality of generated answers.
Devart describes two plan levels: a free Express tier with limited tokens and chat history stored for 14 days, and a paid tier with a larger token allowance and unlimited history. The announcement gives no numerical token limits, price, or complete terms comparison, so check Devart’s current plan details before choosing a tier. SQL editing and data-generation workflow
Qualify names and expand wildcards
In dbForge SQL Complete and the SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle Studios, users can apply object and column name qualification to existing SQL code. The release also adds wildcard expansion for a document or selected fragment. These are code-editing conveniences for refining queries; they do not imply a change to database execution performance.

Launch quick data generation from Database Explorer
Quick data generation can now be launched from selected tables in Database Explorer. The change brings the action closer to the objects a user is working with, rather than requiring a separate starting point in the workflow. Devart’s announcement describes the feature but does not report generation benchmarks or test outcomes.
Schema-comparison reports and MySQL compatibility
Last modified column in SQL Server and Oracle comparisons
For the SQL Server and Oracle tools, schema-comparison documents and reports now include a Last modified column. This adds modification-date information to those comparison outputs; it does not replace reviewing the schema differences themselves.
MySQL and MariaDB versions listed by Devart
Devart says the MySQL tools support MySQL 26.7 and MariaDB 13.x. The MySQL revision history records MySQL 26.7 and MariaDB 13. Because compatibility can depend on the exact product update and database deployment, verify the current product documentation for your environment before relying on a version match. Check the MySQL Studio revision history.
