But its processor, screen, memory, storage, battery and charger vary by configuration and region, so a review-unit benchmark or battery result is not a promise about every version. Check the exact build before buying.
What the Dell Pro 5 16 (AMD) is—and which model this review covers
Dell positions the Pro 5 16 as a business laptop in its middle-market range. The model number is P516265, but that number covers multiple configurations rather than one fixed specification. Dell’s US configurator reviewed for this article offered Ryzen AI 5 PRO 435 and Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 options; another US product page showed higher-tier Ryzen AI 9 PRO 465 and Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 options. A page may display only part of the available range, and offers can change.

The particular US build shown on Dell’s product page had a Ryzen AI 5 PRO 435, 32 GB of DDR5 memory in two modules, a 512 GB SSD and a 16-inch, non-touch 1920×1200 display rated at 400 nits and 62.5% sRGB. Dell also displayed lower-priced configurations. Treat these as page-specific details, not a guarantee about every P516265. Dell’s US Pro 5 16 AMD product page and its configuration page are the places to verify the current US offer.

Which display should you choose?
The screen is one of the biggest differences between builds. The US configuration described above is WUXGA (1920×1200), non-touch, 400 nits and 62.5% sRGB. Dell UK lists other choices, including a 500-nit WUXGA panel with 100% sRGB and a 2560×1600 option. Those UK choices are not confirmation that the same panels are currently available in the US. Check the configurator for your country and the exact SKU before treating a display specification as standard.

In its review of the product family, ServeTheHome describes IPS displays up to 2560×1600, with touch and non-touch options and no OLED option. Its tested 2560×1600 panel was rated at 500 nits and 100% sRGB and supported variable refresh from 48 to 120 Hz. These details describe the reviewed family and sample; current availability should be confirmed in Dell’s regional configurator. Dell UK’s configurator shows regional options, while ServeTheHome’s review discusses the display family.
Performance: capable, but the published tests are for a premium build
ServeTheHome tested a high-end P516265 with a Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470, 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, integrated Radeon 890M graphics, a 1 TB M.2 2230 QLC SSD and the 2560×1600, 120 Hz display. In Geekbench 6, that unit scored 2,950 in single-core testing, close to the Intel comparison in that review; its multi-core result trailed the comparison. The review describes the Radeon 890M as capable for integrated graphics, but not a replacement for discrete graphics when a workload needs that level of performance. These results belong to the premium test configuration, not the Ryzen AI 5 or Ryzen AI 7 builds.

The distinction matters for demanding work. Processor tier, memory configuration and cooling can affect performance, and a single high-end review does not establish how every configuration performs under sustained workloads. If your work depends on CPU or graphics performance, compare results for the exact processor and workload rather than relying on the product family name. ServeTheHome’s review and benchmark discussion provides the test configuration and context.

ServeTheHome found that the memory, battery, SSD and wireless radio are replaceable. The laptop uses SO-DIMM memory and has one M.2 2230 SSD slot. That makes core components more serviceable than designs with soldered memory or storage, but the single 2230 slot is a meaningful constraint: 2230 drives are shorter than the more common 2280 laptop SSDs, so replacement choices are narrower. Confirm the specific build’s installed parts and compatibility before planning an upgrade.

Dell UK lists configurations with up to 64 GB of RAM and storage choices from 256 GB through 2 TB. Those are regional configurator options, not a statement of current US availability. Dell’s buyer prompt, “Explain this model’s memory,” is best answered by looking at the build’s listed capacity and module arrangement; the US displayed build cited here uses 32 GB in two modules. Dell UK’s configuration page lists its regional choices, and ServeTheHome’s internal inspection describes replaceable components.
Battery life and charging depend on the selected build
The product family has 45 Wh, 57 Wh and 70 Wh battery options, with availability varying by region. Notebookcheck measured 12 hours 28 minutes of Wi-Fi web surfing on its Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 review unit, which had a 70 Wh battery and 1600p, 120 Hz display. That is an independent test result for that particular high-end machine, not a runtime estimate for a lower-priced build. Dell does not provide an estimated runtime on the configurator examined by ServeTheHome.

- With 16 GB DDR5 SDRAM of memory, you can run multiple programs simultaneously without any drop in performance
- 16" display with 1920 x 1200 resolution delivers stunning clarity for movies, games, and photos, offering an immersive and captivating visual experience
- 512 GB total SSD capacity offers ample storage for your essential documents, favorite songs, movies, and pictures, ensuring you have plenty of space for all your digital content
- 8.70 Hours battery run time allows you to stay untethered and productive for extended periods without interruption
Pay attention to the adapter as well as the battery. ServeTheHome’s 70 Wh review unit came with a 65 W adapter; it charged the laptop but did not support Dell ExpressCharge. The review says ExpressCharge with that battery requires a 100 W adapter. Dell’s US displayed configuration also showed a 65 W USB-C adapter, so check the charger included with the exact build if fast charging is important. Notebookcheck’s battery test, ServeTheHome’s power discussion and Dell’s US configuration listing describe these separate test and listing details.

Dell lists two Thunderbolt 4/USB4 Type-C ports with power delivery and DisplayPort, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a headset jack and 1 GbE RJ45 Ethernet. That combination suits a business desk setup: wired networking, external displays and legacy USB accessories are available without making a hub essential for many users. Ports and capabilities should still be confirmed against the selected regional configuration. ServeTheHome also noted integrated Ethernet and Thunderbolt 4 on its test unit.

What to verify before ordering
- Processor: confirm the exact Ryzen AI PRO model rather than assuming the review unit’s Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470.
- Screen: verify resolution, brightness, color coverage, touch support and refresh rate for your region.
- Memory and storage: check capacity and module arrangement, plus the included SSD. The reviewed design has one M.2 2230 slot.
- Battery and charger: verify the battery capacity and included adapter wattage together, especially if you expect ExpressCharge.
- Price and availability: compare the live offer for your country; configurations and commercial offers change.
For a like-for-like comparison with another business laptop, compare the same processor tier and workload, display characteristics, memory arrangement, SSD format, battery capacity and test method, adapter wattage, built-in ports, weight, support and regional price. A premium P516265 review result is not a fair stand-in for another laptop’s base configuration.
