Its 360-degree hinge and touch display make it more flexible than a conventional laptop, but the 300-nit screen is a notable compromise when using it as a tablet. The US configuration Dell lists with a Ryzen AI 5 340, 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD is the clearest baseline for evaluating the model.
What model is the DB04255?
DB04255 is the AMD version of Dell’s 14 Plus 2-in-1. It should not be confused with the Intel-based DB04250 or the standard clamshell 14 Plus: specifications and review findings for those models do not automatically apply. Dell’s US product page lists a Ryzen AI 5 340 configuration and a higher configuration with a Ryzen AI 7 350. Exact configurations and availability vary by market. Dell’s US listing is the source for the specifications below.

What do you get for the price?
The base US configuration shown by Dell pairs the Ryzen AI 5 340 with Radeon 840M integrated graphics, 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD. A second displayed configuration uses the Ryzen AI 7 350, 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD. CHOICE independently lists the Ryzen AI 5 340, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and Radeon 840M for the exact DB04255, but its detailed expert rating and test results are members-only. CHOICE’s listing therefore confirms configuration details, not a public performance score.
TechRadar describes performance as similar to the standard 14 Plus and considers the convertible a good-value option for general productivity, while stressing that its appeal depends on whether you will use the 2-in-1 format. Those are reviewer assessments, not controlled test results for every DB04255 configuration. Dell’s US product page does not establish a current price here; compare the exact CPU, memory and storage configuration and local price before deciding whether the added hinge and touchscreen are worth paying for.

Is the display good enough for tablet use?
The screen is a 14-inch 1920×1200 touchscreen. Dell specifies WVA technology and 300 nits of brightness. That resolution suits common productivity tasks, but 300 nits is a modest brightness specification, particularly if you expect to use the convertible in bright rooms or near windows. TechRadar regards the display as a more significant drawback on this 2-in-1 than on the clamshell, because tablet use puts the screen more directly at the center of the experience. TechRadar’s review also notes generally capable productivity performance and occasional trackpad behavior it found sticky. Treat those as that reviewer’s impressions, not a guarantee that every unit will feel the same.
How convertible is it, and is a pen included?
The touchscreen and convertible hinge let you switch between laptop and tablet-style use, which can be useful for reading, presenting or handwriting if you have a compatible pen. Dell’s brochure search excerpt says the DB04255 supports an active pen. It does not establish which styluses are compatible or whether a pen is included with a particular sale, so confirm both with Dell or the seller before purchasing. The touchscreen’s 300-nit rating is worth weighing against how often you expect to use tablet mode.

| Item | Dell’s stated US specification |
|---|---|
| USB-C | Two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort |
| USB-A | One USB-A port |
| Video output | HDMI 1.4; Dell specifies a maximum output of 1920×1080 at 60 Hz |
| Audio | Combination audio jack |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 7 |
| Webcam | 1080p |
| Battery | 64 Wh integrated battery |
| Weight | Starting at 3.51 lb |
| Power adapter | 65 W USB-C charger |
These are manufacturer specifications for the cited US configurations, not measurements. In particular, the 64 Wh capacity does not establish how many hours the laptop will last on a charge. No reliable measured runtime for this exact configuration is available here. If your desk setup needs more connections, check whether the two USB-C ports and the HDMI limit suit your monitor and peripherals; a hub is an option, not a requirement for every buyer.

Who should consider the DB04255?
It may fit if you want
- A touchscreen 14-inch Windows laptop that can fold into tablet-style positions.
- Mainstream hardware for everyday office, study and general computing.
- A 16 GB memory configuration and, depending on the SKU, either a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD.
Look more closely at alternatives if you need
- A brighter screen for frequent tablet use or bright environments.
- Measured battery-life evidence before choosing a laptop for long stretches away from power.
- More capable wired display output than the listed US HDMI 1.4 maximum of 1080p at 60 Hz.
- A specific pen workflow; verify stylus compatibility and whether the pen is bundled.
What to check before buying
- Confirm the model number. Check the listing or system configuration for DB04255, not the Intel DB04250 or clamshell 14 Plus.
- Read the complete configuration. Verify the processor (Ryzen AI 5 340 or Ryzen AI 7 350), 16 GB memory and SSD capacity; do not assume every regional listing matches Dell’s US page.
- Check the local display, ports and bundle. Confirm the screen and port specifications for that SKU and whether a compatible active pen is included if you need one.
- Compare local price and support terms. Prices, promotions, stock and warranty or support arrangements can vary by region and change over time.
