To delete a Twitch account, open the settings for the account you want to remove and follow Twitch’s Delete Account flow. Before submitting, save any data or videos you want to keep. Twitch says processing can take up to 90 days, and logging in during that period terminates the deletion request. If you only want a break, disable the account instead; Partners and Affiliates must complete creator offboarding before either action.
Choose between disabling and deleting
Disabling is a temporary deactivation: your channel and its content are taken out of public view, and Twitch says you can reactivate the account by logging in. Deletion is a separate process that removes account content and profile information and cannot be reversed once complete.

Before you submit a deletion request
Save data and videos you want to keep
While logged in, request a copy of your account data in Privacy Settings. Twitch says it completes data reports within 14 days. Creators can download individual videos to a local device, but Twitch does not provide bulk video downloads. Make and verify any copies you need before proceeding.

Complete creator offboarding if you are a Partner or Affiliate
Twitch requires Partners and Affiliates to complete creator offboarding before they can delete or disable their accounts. If you are in either program, contact Twitch Support for help with offboarding before continuing.

Check the account you are removing
If you use more than one Twitch account, confirm that you are signed in to the intended one before opening the deletion flow. Deletion affects the selected account.
How to delete your Twitch account
- Open the account’s settings. Sign in to the account you intend to remove, open your profile or account settings, and scroll to the deletion section. Twitch’s help instructions direct users to the Delete Account page.
- Review the account name. Confirm that the page refers to the correct account before proceeding.
- Submit the request. Follow the current on-page confirmation steps. Twitch says giving a reason for deletion is optional.
- Do not log in while the request is processing. Twitch says logging in terminates the deletion process. Processing can take up to 90 days.
Settings labels and layouts can change. If the deletion option is missing or the instructions do not match what you see, consult Twitch’s account-deletion help page or contact Support. For Partners and Affiliates, the standard option may not be available until offboarding is complete.

What deletion removes—and what may remain
Twitch says deletion removes content and profile information, including clips, highlights, user rewards, and settings. It also stops new processing of personal data and deletes profile and other identifying data as described in its help guidance. Twitch may retain limited personal data for legal, security, or other reasons permitted or required by law.

Once deletion is complete, Twitch says it cannot be reversed. Subscriptions are canceled and cannot be restored after completion. A username is not immediately available for reuse or transfer: Twitch says it is recycled, and it takes at least six months before it enters the available pool.

Can you recover an account after requesting deletion?
Twitch’s guidance is not perfectly aligned on this point. Its deletion article says deletion cannot be reversed and that logging in during processing terminates the request; its reactivation guidance says a request made within the past 90 days might be re-enabled, while an account fully deleted after the request cannot be re-enabled. Treat recovery during the processing window as a possibility, not a guarantee. If you want the account back, contact Twitch Support promptly rather than relying on logging in to restore it.
