Rat King appears to have been the first hero released from Deadlock’s City Never Sleeps update: players celebrated his arrival on October 2, 2026, the first release date Valve announced. The distinction is that launch-day community posts support Rat King’s place in the order, while the official update information available here does not show a finalized Valve release-order record.
Was Rat King the first hero released?
Community posts on October 2, 2026—including “Listen up, Crumbums! Your King is here.” and “OUR KING IS HERE”—celebrated Rat King’s arrival on the day Valve had set for the first hero release. That is contemporaneous evidence that Rat King arrived first, but it is not an official Valve release log. Valve’s update announcement established the first release date and said players would vote on the order; it did not provide a finalized order in the official material available here.
