In Crimson Desert, Update 2.00.00 lets you reset an individual character’s skill progression and get back that character’s Abyss Links. After completing all main quests, you can also start a new game with Abyss Links and other in-game currency carried over from an existing save. The update notes do not confirm that gear, inventory, quests, collectibles, or world state carry over.
For lost or overwritten progress, saves and backups are a separate kind of recovery. Cross-save moves an uploaded save between linked platforms; it does not undo an in-game choice.

Can you respec skills in Crimson Desert?
Yes. Update 2.00.00 introduced individual skill-progression resets: you can reset a character’s progression, and the Abyss Links spent by that character are refunded. Pearl Abyss describes this as an improvement over the earlier all-character reset behavior. See the Update 2.00.00 patch notes.
The patch also made a one-time migration on the first launch after the update: existing skill progression was reset and spent skill resources, including Abyss Artifacts, were refunded. That was an update migration, not a statement that an ordinary skill reset refunds every type of resource.

What carries over when you start a new game?
After you complete all main quests, Update 2.00.00 makes a new-game carryover feature available. The patch notes name Abyss Links and other in-game currency as the carried-over items. They state: “This features is available after completing all main quests.”
The notes do not specify which currencies beyond Abyss Links are included, or confirm that equipment, inventory, completed quests, discoveries, collectibles, or world changes persist. Treat the feature as a limited, named currency carryover—not as confirmation of a full New Game Plus transfer.

How can you recover overwritten or corrupted progress?
Pearl Abyss says the game has automatic and manual saves and recommends saving frequently and keeping multiple save files. On PC and Mac, the publisher documents the local save folder and recommends copying it to another drive or USB. If data is overwritten or corrupted, that separate copy can be restored by copying it back. Follow the publisher’s Save Data Notice for the relevant platform and file guidance.
Be careful with cloud-save conflicts
Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and other platform cloud saves can conflict with local saves. Pearl Abyss warns that an older cloud version may overwrite newer local progress, and choosing the wrong file at a conflict prompt can cause data loss. Let synchronization finish, check the displayed timestamps, and make a backup before resolving a conflict.

Is cross-save a way to undo a decision?
No. Cross-save, added in Update 1.14 on July 16, 2026, is for continuing on another linked platform. The guide’s workflow is to link platform accounts, refresh the save menu, and upload through the Cross-Save slot. It does not describe a rewind or rollback. See the official Cross Save Guide.
