If Crimson Desert freezes when you open a menu or select a map area’s Details view, update the game first, then work through platform-appropriate checks. Pearl Abyss has documented fixes for several related menu and map behaviors, but its patch notes do not establish that one patch resolves every menu or Details-view freeze.
Start with the game update and official notices
Check Pearl Abyss’s support notices, FAQ, and announcements, including the Known Issues notice. Pearl Abyss says an issue may already have been resolved, so confirm the current status for your platform before trying more disruptive steps. The support guidance was updated July 6, 2026.

Pearl Abyss has listed fixes for specific menu, map, and loading problems. Those notes are useful clues, not confirmation that all freezes with similar symptoms share the same cause.

For a PC freeze: verify game files and update the graphics driver
Pearl Abyss recommends verifying PC game files and keeping graphics drivers current. Verification can replace damaged or missing installation files without reinstalling the entire game.
Steam
- Open Library and right-click Crimson Desert.
- Select Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
- Let the check finish, apply any files Steam reacquires, then launch the game and see whether the same menu or Details action still freezes.
Epic Games Store
- Open Library and select the three-dot menu beside the game.
- Choose Manage → Verify.
- After verification completes, relaunch and try to reproduce the same freeze.
Also install the latest graphics driver available for your GPU. A current driver is a sensible troubleshooting step, not proof that the driver caused the hang.
Check whether another application is interfering
Pearl Abyss warns that antivirus, VPN, anti-spyware, firewall, security, recording, and broadcasting software can interfere with launching, performance, or stability. If the freeze began after installing or updating one of these tools, test whether it is involved.

- For other applications, its support guidance suggests temporarily disabling or removing them to identify interference. Change one thing at a time, then restore protection or software you need after the test.
- Do not leave security software disabled as a permanent workaround. If the behavior changes, use that result to narrow down the conflict and seek support from the relevant software provider.
Confirm the PC meets the published requirements
Pearl Abyss lists these Windows PC specifications in its support notice. They provide compatibility context, but meeting them does not rule out a driver, file, application conflict, or game defect.

The requirements do not identify an SSD purchase as a remedy for menu freezing. If your system already meets the listed storage requirement, buying hardware is not an evidence-based next troubleshooting step for this symptom.

On console: update first, then collect details about the freeze
The cited Pearl Abyss support guidance gives specific file-verification steps for PC, not console. On PlayStation or Xbox, confirm the game has downloaded its latest available update and restart the game. If the freeze persists, note the console model, installed game version, the exact menu or map action, and whether it happens consistently. These details make a support report more actionable.
Before reinstalling or contacting support
Back up saves before a clean install
Pearl Abyss suggests a clean install if earlier measures fail. Back up save data before uninstalling. On PC, the save location listed in its support notice is C:Users[USER NAME]AppDataLocalPearl AbyssCDsave. Replace [USER NAME] with the Windows account folder name. Keep the backup somewhere outside the game’s installation and save folders.

If the problem remains, Pearl Abyss directs PC players to use PERS to send error dumps, logs, screenshots, save data, and hardware specifications, then submit the issue form with the PERS Unique ID. The support notice explains that save or log files can help the team analyze an issue more thoroughly. Include the game version and platform and describe the shortest sequence of actions that reliably triggers the freeze.
Use Pearl Abyss’s support notice and issue-reporting guidance for the current reporting route. The support page also points players to the Known Issues notice; check it directly for the current status of this exact symptom rather than assuming it is either an active known issue or resolved.
