What the Create: Perfect World server files contain
Create: Perfect World is a Create-focused Minecraft modpack distributed through CurseForge. The listed release, Perfect World-1.0, targets Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge and has a release date of March 14, 2024. Its Files page includes an archive named Perfect World-1.0 – server files.zip. That archive is the correct starting point for a dedicated server for this release.
Do not build a server by copying a random client installation, downloading a different release, or mixing Forge and Minecraft versions. A modded server is a matched software stack: the server loader, mods, configuration files, and world data must agree with the profiles used by players. A client can sometimes contain extra client-only files, but adding unverified jars to the server can prevent startup or create connection errors.

Choose where to run the server
| Option | What you manage | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home computer | Java, Forge, the modpack files, backups, operating-system updates, firewall rules, and router forwarding | A small private group when you already have a computer and a reliable connection | The computer must remain powered on and reachable whenever people want to play; upload bandwidth and home-network restrictions apply |
| Managed Minecraft host | The provider’s control panel and the files you upload; the provider supplies the public endpoint and server infrastructure | Players who want an always-available endpoint without configuring a home router | Recurring fees and possible player, memory, storage, or CPU limits; exact prices and limits vary by provider |
A managed host usually removes the need for a home port-forwarding rule, but it does not remove version-matching work. You still need to upload the exact Create: Perfect World server files and select the Java and Forge settings supported by that host.
Requirements before installation
Use a 64-bit Java runtime compatible with the loader
Mojang’s Java Edition server guidance says Java must be installed and up to date on the computer that will host the server so it can run Java archive files. Forge’s current documentation specifies a 64-bit JVM and Java 21 for its current branch, while older Minecraft branches can require an older runtime. Because this pack targets Minecraft 1.20.1, use the Java version accepted by the exact Forge build in the server archive or installer rather than blindly selecting the newest Java release.

java -version
Record the reported major version. If Forge exits before loading, reports an unsupported class-file version, or says that the Java version is unsuitable, install the runtime required by that Forge build and make sure the server process is using it. On systems with multiple Java installations, the java command on your PATH may point to a different version than the one you installed.
Prepare a dedicated server folder
Create a folder used only for this server, such as CreatePerfectWorldServer. Keeping the instance separate from other Minecraft servers makes backups, updates, permissions, and log collection safer. Avoid placing it inside a synchronized cloud folder while the server is running; synchronization software can lock or partially copy world files.
Hardware and operating-system considerations
No official Create: Perfect World minimum RAM or CPU specification is published. Do not treat a generic Minecraft memory number as a pack requirement. Start conservatively, watch memory use and tick time while several players explore, and adjust allocation only after observing the server under your actual workload. Leave enough RAM for the operating system and other services. A machine that is technically powerful enough can still lag if it is running backups, updates, or unrelated applications at the same time.

Use a stable wired connection when possible. Wi-Fi can work, but interference and sleep settings can interrupt a session. Disable automatic sleep for a home host, and make sure the computer’s clock, operating-system updates, and security software do not unexpectedly stop the Java process.
Download the exact server archive
- Open the Create: Perfect World project’s Files page on CurseForge.
- Select the release labeled Perfect World-1.0, which lists Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge and is dated March 14, 2024.
- Download Perfect World-1.0 – server files.zip, not an archive from another release.
- Save the archive outside the live server folder until the download is complete. If your operating system displays a file size or download error, download it again before extracting.
- Keep the original archive as a recovery copy. Do not overwrite it with modified configuration files or a later release.
The Minecraft and Forge versions associated with that archive are authoritative for this installation. If the project later publishes another release, treat it as a separate update project: back up the current world, read the new release’s files, and do not replace individual jars at random.
Install and start the server
1. Extract the archive
Extract the server-files ZIP directly into the dedicated folder. Preserve the folder structure supplied by the pack. If the archive contains a mods directory, configuration directories, scripts, or a Forge installer, keep them together. Do not run the server from inside the ZIP file.
2. Install Forge when the archive requires it
Some server archives include the files needed to launch immediately; others include an installer or expect you to install Forge separately. If there is no usable launcher, obtain the Forge server installer for the exact Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge version associated with the pack release. Run the installer and choose the dedicated-server installation option, pointing it at the server folder.

Forge’s documentation also describes gradlew runServer for a development setup. That command is useful when you are intentionally using a Gradle-based development workspace; it is not a reason to mix development files into a normal production server. For a packaged server, use the launch script or server launcher supplied by the archive or generated by the Forge installer.
3. Run once to generate files
Start the server from its folder using the supplied launch script or launcher. The first run may create the run directory, libraries, configuration files, and world folder, then stop immediately. This is expected when the EULA has not yet been accepted. Keep the console window open long enough to read the final message instead of assuming that a closed window means the installation is complete.

4. Accept the Minecraft EULA
Stop any remaining Java process, open eula.txt in the server’s run directory, and change the acceptance line to:
eula=true
Save the file without changing its name or extension. Start the server again. Forge documents this first-run shutdown and the requirement to edit eula.txt; accepting the EULA is required before the server will continue loading.
5. Wait for a ready state
A successful startup ends with a console message indicating that the server is ready for commands or has finished loading. The first launch can take longer while libraries and world data are created. Do not close the process during that work. If it stops with an error, copy the complete console message and inspect the log rather than repeatedly restarting without changing anything.
Make every player’s installation match
Each player should install the same Create: Perfect World release as the server. The following values must match:
- Minecraft version: 1.20.1 for the listed Perfect World-1.0 release.
- Forge loader version: the exact build used by the server files.
- Mod set and mod versions: use the pack’s supplied files rather than selecting individual replacements.
- Configuration files: copy the server’s intended configuration and preserve required gameplay settings.
- World and server settings: clients should connect to the server’s rules instead of attempting to replace them with unrelated profiles.
Common symptoms of a mismatch include a missing-mod message, a rejected connection during the registry handshake, a crash while loading a dimension, or a server that starts but behaves differently from the client. Compare the names and versions in the server’s mods folder with the client profile. Do not add client-only performance, graphics, or interface jars to the dedicated server unless the mod’s documentation explicitly says they are server-safe.
Prove the installation locally first
Testing from the host computer isolates software problems from networking problems. With the server fully started, open the modded Minecraft client that matches the server and add a multiplayer entry using localhost as the address.

If localhost fails, do not begin with router settings. Fix Java, Forge, the archive contents, the mod list, or the generated configuration first. A local success proves that the core installation can accept a client; it does not prove that an outside player can reach your home network.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Let friends connect from outside your network
Forward the usual Minecraft port
For worldwide access from a home connection, CurseForge’s multiplayer guidance identifies TCP port 25565 as the usual port to forward. In your router’s port-forwarding page, create a rule that sends TCP 25565 to the server computer’s local IPv4 address. The external and internal port are normally both 25565 unless you deliberately configured the server to use another port.
Reserve the host’s local address with the router’s DHCP reservation feature or configure a stable local address. If the address changes, the forwarding rule can point to the wrong computer. Give the server computer a descriptive device name so that the destination is unambiguous.
Allow the port through the host firewall
Create an inbound firewall rule allowing the Java server process or TCP 25565 on the network profile used by the host. Apply the narrowest rule that works; allowing every inbound port is unnecessary. After changing the rule, restart the server if the operating system’s security software requires it.
Give players the correct address
Friends on the same home network can usually connect with the host’s private address, such as its local IPv4 address. Friends elsewhere need your current public address and the server port, for example public-address:25565 when the port is not the default in their client’s server entry. Do not publish your public address broadly; share it only with people you trust.
Recognize carrier-grade NAT and double NAT
If localhost works, the firewall rule looks correct, and the router forwards to the right local address but outside players still cannot connect, your internet provider may use carrier-grade NAT. A second router in front of the server can create a similar double-NAT problem. In either case, the port-forwarding rule on your local router may not be reachable from the public internet. Check whether the router’s internet-facing address matches the public address shown by a trusted network diagnostic. If it does not, ask the provider for a public IPv4 option or use a managed host or another networking solution.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Use a managed host instead of home forwarding
A managed Minecraft host supplies an internet-facing endpoint and generally removes the need to configure your home router. Upload the exact server-files archive, select the compatible Java runtime, start the instance, and give players the endpoint shown by the provider. The provider’s panel may impose memory, CPU, storage, or player limits, so confirm that the selected plan can run a modpack of this size before migrating a world.

Back up the irreplaceable data
The world directory is the most important data in the installation. Stop the server cleanly with stop before copying it. A live copy can contain partially written region or player files and may not restore correctly. Back up the world and the server configuration before every modpack, Forge, or configuration update.
Keep at least one backup away from the server computer. Label each backup with the date and the Minecraft, Forge, and pack versions that created it. Periodically test restoring a copy to a separate folder; a backup that has never been tested is only an assumption.
Update as a controlled change
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the server cleanly.
- Copy the entire world and configuration to a dated backup location.
- Keep the current server folder intact so you can roll back.
- Extract the new release into a separate folder rather than overwriting the old installation.
- Use the new release’s complete server files, not a mixture of old and new jars.
- Start the new instance, accept any new EULA prompt if it appears, and inspect the console.
- Test locally before allowing remote players to join.
- Only after the new instance is stable, copy or migrate the backed-up world as appropriate for that release.
A Minecraft, Forge, or mod change can alter world data. Never test an unverified update on the only copy of a valuable world.
Troubleshoot by separating software from networking
| Symptom | Likely area | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The window closes immediately on the first launch | EULA or an early startup error | Open the console or log, edit eula.txt to eula=true if requested, then start again. If it still stops, read the first meaningful error rather than the final shutdown line. |
| Java reports an unsupported version or class-file error | Incompatible Java runtime | Check java -version, install the 64-bit Java version required by the exact Forge branch, and ensure the launcher uses that executable. |
| Forge cannot find libraries or the server jar | Incomplete installation or wrong folder | Re-extract the original server archive, run the exact Forge installer if required, and launch from the generated server directory. |
| A mod is missing or fails during loading | Client/server mod mismatch | Compare the complete mod list and versions with the pack release. Remove unrelated additions and do not substitute a jar merely because its name looks similar. |
| Localhost cannot connect | Server process, loader, or pack installation | Confirm the console reached a ready state, then fix Java, Forge, configuration, or mod errors before touching the router. |
| Localhost works but a same-network player cannot connect | Local firewall or local address | Use the host’s private address, confirm both devices are on the same network, and verify the firewall allows the Java process or TCP 25565. |
| Localhost and same-network tests work but internet players cannot connect | Port forwarding, public address, or carrier-grade NAT | Check the destination address, TCP rule, firewall, public address, and double-NAT or carrier-grade NAT conditions. |
| Players connect but the world stutters | Observed server load | Watch memory use and tick time, reduce competing workloads, and adjust Java memory allocation based on measured behavior. There is no published pack-specific minimum to apply blindly. |
Practical operating checklist
- Keep the original Perfect World-1.0 server-files ZIP and the active server folder separate.
- Document the Minecraft version, Forge build, Java version, server port, and backup location.
- Use the pack’s supplied mods and configuration files on both server and clients.
- Run a localhost test after installation and after every significant update.
- Stop the server before copying the world or replacing files.
- Back up the world and configuration before updates, and retain a known-good rollback folder.
- Limit firewall exposure to the required TCP port and trusted administration methods.
- Monitor the console during play so a mod error or memory problem is noticed before it corrupts the session.
Bottom line
Use the exact CurseForge server-files archive for Perfect World-1.0, run it with a compatible 64-bit Java and Forge installation, accept the EULA after the first launch, and keep every client synchronized with the server’s complete modpack. Prove the setup with localhost; then forward TCP 25565 and permit it through the firewall for remote friends, or use a managed host with its assigned endpoint. Since no official hardware minimum is published, let real memory and tick-time measurements guide resource tuning, and protect the world with clean, dated backups before every change.
