Why track how a problem was solved?
An accepted submission says the code passed, but it does not show whether the solver derived the key idea alone, understood the approach but stumbled in implementation, or needed help to find the solution. CP Compass is designed to capture that distinction. As project author Sanvi Naik puts it, “Codeforces records both as solved. But when you’re trying to improve, that difference matters.”

That distinction matters when deciding what to work on next: a problem solved independently may reinforce a strength, while a problem requiring hints may reveal a topic or reasoning step that needs attention. CP Compass presents itself as a way to make those patterns visible.

The project article says a user enters a Codeforces handle to import solved problems, ratings, and tags. The imported information supplies context for the reflections; it does not, by itself, describe how independently a problem was solved.

Mark the quality of each solve
- Green: solved independently and cleanly.
- Yellow: knew the approach but made an implementation or logic mistake.
- Red: could not derive the central idea without help.
A user can also add an optional free-text reflection to a problem. Together, the colors and notes are intended to preserve information an accepted verdict does not contain.
Review patterns and choose practice
The author says CP Compass combines reflections with problem ratings and topics, then uses an AI coach to identify recurring struggles and recommend personalized practice. The intended cycle is “Import → Reflect → Analyze → Improve.” In practical terms, its guiding question is: “What problem should I solve now?” The source describes that as the product’s purpose; it does not establish that its recommendations improve performance.

What the project article establishes—and what it does not
Sanvi Naik’s DEV Community article, published October 4, 2026, describes CP Compass as an initial project version. It reports the intended workflow and implementation, but provides no independent evaluation, named study, statistics, or quantified learning outcomes. A friend’s reaction and a 45-day club challenge mentioned in the article should not be taken as evidence of general effectiveness. Read the project author’s description.
The article names React and Vite for the frontend, FastAPI and SQLite for the API and stored reflections, the Codeforces API for imported data, Qwen3-14B as the open-weight model, Hugging Face Inference Providers for model access, and Vercel plus Railway for deployment. These are implementation details reported by the author, not an independently verified account of the product’s current configuration.

The proposed distinctions include knowledge gaps, difficulty finding an observation, implementation mistakes, and attempts above a solver’s current level. The article presents these as future interests, not features with confirmed availability or delivery dates.

For a Codeforces user who wants to reflect on the reasoning behind accepted solutions, CP Compass’s central idea is a useful complement to a simple solved-problem count. Its value in practice, however, depends on the quality of a person’s reflections and recommendations; the project article does not yet provide measured evidence of learning outcomes.
