Sometimes. Cox may charge a monthly fee for its Panoramic WiFi Gateway, but some eligible offers include the equipment. Cox’s official pages reviewed list different rental rates—$13 and $15 per month—so check the equipment line in your address-specific order summary or bill for the amount that applies to you.

When is the Panoramic Gateway included?

Cox’s internet plans page says Panoramic WiFi is included at no charge with Internet 1 Gig and above, and with certain bundles that combine Mobile or TV with any internet plan. Eligibility and terms depend on the actual offer, so confirm what your checkout summary says before assuming the gateway is included. See Cox’s internet plans and offers.

What does Cox charge when equipment is rented?

Cox’s published figures are not consistent across the official pages reviewed. Its Rhode Island price list lists the Panoramic WiFi Gateway at $15 per month, while its WiFi page says customers can rent the gateway for $13 per month. These are published rates from different Cox pages, not a universal price for every location or offer. Cox Rhode Island price list · Cox WiFi page.

What is the Panoramic modem?

“Panoramic modem” usually means Cox’s Panoramic WiFi Gateway: one device that combines a cable modem and a Wi-Fi router. WiFi Pods are separate, optional extenders for improving coverage in larger homes; they are not the modem or gateway. Cox’s Panoramic WiFi information.

Can you use your own modem instead?

Yes. Cox says there is no charge to use your own modem, provided it is certified to work on Cox’s network. Not every retail cable modem is compatible, so check Cox’s current certified-device list and confirm the device meets your service requirements before buying. If the modem you choose does not include a router, you will need a separate router for home Wi-Fi. Compare your equipment’s total purchase cost with the rental charge that actually appears on your offer or bill; owning equipment is not automatically cheaper, particularly when your plan includes the gateway.

How to decide whether to rent or buy

  1. Check your offer. Look at the equipment line in your address-specific order summary to see whether Panoramic WiFi is included or billed separately.
  2. Verify your bill. If you already have Cox service, check the current bill for the gateway equipment charge rather than relying on a rate shown for another location.
  3. Check certification. Before buying a modem, confirm it is on Cox’s certified-device list and supports your service requirements.
  4. Account for Wi-Fi. If the modem has no built-in router, include the cost of a separate router in your comparison.
  5. Compare the full costs. Weigh your actual recurring rental charge against the purchase cost of compatible equipment and any router you need.
