The Coway Airmega Mighty2 (AP-1512N) is a three-stage air purifier whose strongest case is quiet cleaning at settings that still move a meaningful amount of air. The key caveat is room size: Coway’s 1,800-square-foot figure assumes only one air change per hour, while RTINGS recommends about 257 square feet at a quieter setting of 45 dBA or less. It has automatic sensor-based operation, but no app or remote control, and its replacement filter is a recurring cost.
What the Coway Airmega Mighty2 is
The AP-1512N uses a washable pre-filter followed by a combined Max2 activated-carbon and HEPA filter. Coway lists Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADR) of 240 for smoke, 242 for dust, and 249 for pollen. These are manufacturer-listed figures; the independent room recommendations below use a different testing basis.

Coway lists the unit at 16.9 × 17.9 × 9.3 inches, 15.2 pounds, and 56 watts. That footprint makes it a floor-standing appliance rather than an easy fit on most nightstands or tables, a practical limitation also noted by RTINGS.

The answer depends on how often you want the air exchanged and how loudly you are willing to run the purifier. Coway’s coverage figure and RTINGS’ room recommendations are not equivalent ratings:

For choosing a room, use the recommendation that matches the operating sound you will tolerate, rather than treating 1,800 ft² as coverage at the same cleaning rate. RTINGS describes the Mighty2 as suitable for medium rooms and says very large open-plan areas can challenge it. Actual results vary with room layout, airflow, and pollution sources.
Is the Mighty2 quiet?
RTINGS measured 31.1 dBA at the lowest fan speed and 57.2 dBA at the highest in its testing. It characterizes the Mighty2 as very quiet relative to the original Coway Mighty. Coway’s own listed noise range is 19–50 dB; its figures are manufacturer specifications, not the same measurements as RTINGS’ results.

The quiet-setting room recommendation is especially useful if the purifier will run in a bedroom or shared space: RTINGS measured 280 m³/hr at a setting no louder than 45 dBA and recommends approximately 257 ft² for that condition. Do not assume maximum-speed coverage applies when running it quietly.

Coway says the MegaScan sensor reports PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 readings. The listed modes are Smart/Auto, Sleep, Eco, and Turbo. In automatic operation, the purifier adjusts its fan in response to sensed air quality. RTINGS also reports that the controls dim and the unit moves toward quieter operation in darkness.

There is no companion app or remote control, according to RTINGS. You operate it using the unit’s onboard controls, so it is a poor fit if phone control or remote adjustments are essential. Coway claims Sleep mode can run as low as 19 dB and says the Mighty2 uses 20% less energy than the previous model; the sources cited here do not independently verify that energy comparison.
Filter replacement and ongoing upkeep
The pre-filter is removable and washable; Coway says it slides out from the right side. The combined Max2 filter is the consumable to budget for. Coway says the AP-1512N filter set lasts up to 12 months, while RTINGS gives a six-to-12-month replacement interval. Use the purifier’s indicator and manual, since actual life depends on use and conditions.

Check the exact model number before ordering a replacement. Coway’s support article about AP-1512HH/200M filters addresses that older model family and does not establish compatibility with the AP-1512N. Choose a listing that explicitly identifies the Mighty2 AP-1512N.

RTINGS’ comparisons describe the Winix C909 as offering higher CADR and Wi-Fi, but with a bulkier body; it describes the Mighty2 as smaller and quieter at lower fan speeds. RTINGS says the Levoit Vital 200S is smaller and has Wi-Fi, while the Mighty2 performs better at quieter settings in its comparison. These are that reviewer’s findings, not universal rankings.

When comparing models, focus on the trade-offs that affect daily use:
- Room capacity at a tolerable sound level: compare the room recommendation or airflow at the fan setting you expect to use, not just the maximum rating.
- Footprint: the Mighty2 is relatively bulky for a table or nightstand.
- Connectivity: the Mighty2 lacks app and remote control.
- Consumables: include replacement-filter availability and cost in the ownership decision.
Verdict: who should buy the Mighty2?
The Coway Airmega Mighty2 is a sensible option for someone who wants a straightforward purifier with automatic sensing and useful low-noise performance in a medium-sized room. Its room-size numbers need careful interpretation: 1,800 ft² is Coway’s one-air-change-per-hour specification, not the same target as RTINGS’ recommendation of about 257 ft² at 45 dBA or less. Skip it if you need app or remote control, a compact tabletop unit, or quiet coverage for a very large open-plan space.
