How to export contacts from a Samsung phone to a SIM

Open the Samsung Contacts app.

Open the app menu. Depending on the version, this may be a three-line menu or a more/options control.

Tap Manage contacts.

Tap Export contacts or Import or export contacts.

Choose the SIM card as the destination.

Select the contacts to copy. If your screen offers a select-all control, use it only if you want every listed contact.

Confirm the selection, tap Export, and confirm again if prompted.

Samsung documents this flow, but the exact menu path can differ by Galaxy model and software version. The Hong Kong instructions are scoped to products sold in Hong Kong; consult the manual for your particular model if the labels or options do not match. Samsung Hong Kong’s export instructions and Samsung France’s guide describe the process.
What gets copied—and what may not
Exporting to a SIM is a copy operation: the contact remains in its original storage location as well as being copied to the SIM. Samsung distinguishes this from moving a contact, which changes its storage location. Samsung’s explanation of copying and moving contacts covers this distinction.

A SIM stores only basic contact information. Samsung warns that the name and phone number are copied, while other contact details may be lost; names or numbers that are too long may be cut off. SIM capacity is limited, and Samsung does not give a universal numerical limit. After exporting, check the SIM entries and keep another backup if you need email addresses or other extended details. Samsung France’s guide and Samsung’s SIM-contact instructions describe these limitations.

If the export option is missing or the goal is a new phone
The menu does not match
Check the model-specific manual rather than assuming every Galaxy uses the same labels or offers the same options. The Contacts app menu may appear as a three-line icon or under a more/options control, and the export entry may have either of the labels above.

You want to transfer your full contact list
If you are changing phones and want to transfer a complete contact list, Samsung recommends Smart Switch instead of relying on SIM storage. That is a different task from copying selected contacts onto a SIM. Samsung France’s guidance on SIM contacts and phone transfers points to Smart Switch for moving a full list.
