Coolpad’s upcoming wide-format Android phone was announced for China at a planned price of RMB 999, with sales expected in October 2026. Shanghai Droi Technology calls it the “world’s first” wide-format smartphone built for agentic AI, but that distinction is the company’s claim—not independently established—and key hardware details remain unsettled.
What is the Coolpad wide-format phone?
Shanghai Droi Technology’s September 14, 2026 announcement identifies Coolpad as the phone’s maker and says it will run DroiClaw 3, the company’s AI-focused operating system. The release describes a wider body and a 10:16 display, intended to give text, media, controls and AI tasks more room. Those design and usability descriptions come from the company; independent testing is not available.

The company positions the device as a smartphone designed for “agentic AI”—software that can connect supported apps and tools and route tasks. It says DroiClaw 3 supports Android AppFunctions and MCP and uses a hybrid edge-cloud architecture, with local data handling, permission-based access and security controls. The announcement does not establish how well these features work in practice, which apps will be supported at launch, or which tasks will require a cloud connection.
Price and expected launch
Shanghai Droi Technology announced a planned China price of RMB 999 and an October 2026 sales window. Treat both as launch plans, not confirmation that retail sales have started or that RMB 999 is a verified street price. On October 11, iXBT reported that Coolpad’s Mobile Flagship Store account on Xiaohongshu had announced the price and a forthcoming phone, while noting that a precise release date and complete specifications had not been disclosed.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
No reviewed source confirms an exact on-sale date, that sales began, or availability outside China. The exact retail model name has also not been established.
Is it really the world’s first wide-screen Android smartphone?
“World’s first” is Shanghai Droi Technology’s description of the combination of wide-format hardware and agentic AI functions. The announcement does not independently verify that the phone is first across the market, so the claim should be understood as the company’s positioning rather than a confirmed industry-wide distinction.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
There is also a terminology mismatch in early coverage: iXBT’s headline describes a 16:9 wide-screen Android phone, while the company announcement specifies a 10:16 display. Because these descriptions conflict, the phone’s final display ratio should not be treated as settled.

What specifications are confirmed?
The available reports do not provide a consistent, final hardware specification sheet. Technetbook, citing early retail information and images, reports a 6.3-inch, 720p, 16:10 LCD and a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. iXBT also estimates a 6.3-inch display from images, but says the possible LCD panel is unconfirmed. These details conflict with the company announcement’s 10:16 ratio, and should not be treated as definitive specifications.
