To save a GST invoice that is already open in Chrome on a computer, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Choose Save as PDF if it is available, check the preview, then save and inspect the PDF before printing. This saves a copy of the page as displayed; it does not verify the invoice’s tax details or register an e-invoice.

Give the file a descriptive name. Open the saved PDF and check that all pages, invoice identifiers, totals, and any required QR code are present and legible.

If you need a physical copy, print the checked PDF. Confirm the printed QR code remains visible and scannable where applicable.

Use the IRP route for a registered GST e-invoice
A browser-generated PDF is a copy of what was displayed, not the official registration step. For a human-readable copy of a registered e-invoice, GSTN and the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) describe generating a PDF from the signed invoice JSON or using the IRP’s print facility. The IRP FAQ says sellers and buyers can print using the signed JSON payload returned by the IRP, and describes portal lookup by acknowledgement number or the 64-character Invoice Reference Number (IRN). Follow the current portal instructions at the official e-invoice portal; see also GSTN FAQ material.

Check the invoice and QR code before sharing or printing
PDF conversion alone does not establish that an invoice is legally complete, correctly registered, or valid. CBIC’s Rule 46 page lists particulars including supplier information, a unique consecutive serial number, issue date, and recipient details. Compare the PDF with the source invoice and the requirements applicable to your transaction. Official IRP guidance also says the QR code should be placed clearly enough to scan; check it in the saved PDF and on the physical print where relevant. See the IRP portal guidance.

Save as PDF is not offered: Print destinations can vary by operating system or managed-device settings. Check available destinations in the dialog; if the device is managed, its administrator may control printing options.

The preview is blank or incomplete: Return to the webpage, wait for the invoice details and QR code to load, then reopen Print and inspect the preview before saving.
