Resonants are major bosses in Control Resonant, and defeating them is a primary way Dylan gains supernatural combat abilities. The locations, access routes and rewards below come from an unofficial guide updated September 24, 2026—not a Remedy-confirmed checklist—so treat them as walkthrough reports rather than guaranteed requirements for every playthrough.
What are Resonants?
Remedy Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov describes Resonants as remnants of people who once held great power, corrupted by the force threatening reality. He says defeating them is the primary way Dylan expands his supernatural arsenal, with each victory rewarding a new combat ability. Remedy’s combat overview also frames Resonants as major encounters integrated into story progression, with some offering branching ability choices.

The game places Dylan in warped Manhattan zones, where he fights with the shapeshifting Aberrant, supernatural abilities and shifting gravity. Remedy has named Hammer, Blades, Scythe and Fists as Aberrant forms; its overview says additional forms had not yet been revealed at the time of publication. Remedy’s PlayStation Blog overview explains Resonant progression and the weapon, while its announcement describes the setting and zones.
Resonant boss locations and reported ability rewards
This table follows the named encounters, routes and rewards in the unofficial Control Resonant Game guide updated September 24, 2026. Remedy’s official material cited here explains how Resonants affect progression but does not publish a complete named-boss location and reward table. The guide distinguishes these regional Resonant fights from other named enemies in story missions.

The same guide calls The Artist the first boss and Hedron the final boss. Because its reward choices are guide-reported, do not assume one character automatically receives every listed alternative in a single run.
Are all Resonants mandatory, and is their order fixed?
PC Gamer’s September 16, 2026 interview with lead level designer Anne-Marie Grönroos reports that players are not forced to fight every Resonant—or particular Resonants—and that the available boss count may exceed the number required. This suggests players can make encounter choices and may reach fights with different abilities; it is not a guarantee of a specific route or order. PC Gamer’s developer interview is the source for those reported comments.
How boss abilities fit into combat
Remedy describes a combat loop that links melee, abilities and executions: melee hits restore the Combat Ability resource, abilities stun enemies and open them to executions, and executions temporarily increase melee damage. That gives close-range pressure a direct role in keeping ability use flowing. Remedy also points to tactical alternatives such as Mold Turrets, which attack independently and apply harmful status effects. See Remedy’s official combat overview.
When choosing among reported boss rewards, consider whether you want direct melee pressure, a defensive option, or a more tactical tool. The available official overview supports comparing close-range and tactical approaches, but it does not provide a complete numerical ranking of the listed abilities.

Remedy says New Game Plus carries over unlocked supernatural combat abilities, Aberrant upgrades, health and resource improvements, talents and artifacts. Traversal abilities remain tied to story progression. In New Game Plus, players can equip multiple different combat abilities from the same boss, and some familiar boss fights may behave differently on a later run.
