1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHostinger is the better fit for beginners who want managed website hosting; Contabo is better suited to people who specifically need VPS or dedicated-server infrastructure and can administer it. For VPS buyers, neither provider is a proven performance winner: compare equivalent resources, server locations, billing terms and recovery options instead of relying on headline specifications or marketing claims.
How the two providers differ
These are not identical hosting catalogs. Hostinger sells managed website hosting as well as VPS plans, while Contabo’s relevant offerings center on VPS, VDS and dedicated servers. Managed hosting can reduce the server work you handle yourself; a VPS offers more control but expects you to manage a virtual server.

Hostinger describes shared hosting as beginner-friendly and says VPS is for people who know how to manage a virtual server. Contabo frames website hosting around VPS infrastructure. See Hostinger’s hosting plans, its VPS plans and FAQ, and Contabo’s website.

| Decision factor | What to compare | What the available product information establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting type and management | Whether you want a managed website plan or a server to configure and maintain. | Hostinger offers managed website hosting alongside VPS. Contabo’s comparison-relevant products are VPS, VDS and dedicated servers. |
| Resources | CPU, RAM, storage type and bandwidth for your workload. | Plan specifications can help you check fit, but nominal allocations alone do not establish speed or performance. |
| Total cost | Upfront amount, term, renewal rate and tax treatment. | Introductory monthly equivalents may require long upfront commitments. Hostinger’s US VPS page shows renewal rates; Contabo’s US prices are displayed for 24 months and include VAT. |
| Backups and recovery | Backup frequency, snapshots and any added cost for recovery features. | Hostinger lists weekly VPS backups and manual snapshots. Check backup and security inclusions for the exact Contabo SKU. |
| Server location | Available data-center locations and proximity to your audience. | Hostinger says it has global locations. Check each provider’s current availability and select a location near the people using your site. |
| Traffic policy | Bandwidth allocation and conditions attached to “unlimited” traffic. | Contabo says exceptionally high or disruptive traffic may be throttled under its fair-use policy. |
What the listed prices and plans show
The following figures were read from the providers’ US pricing pages on October 7, 2026. They are volatile offers, not guaranteed future prices. Compare the same geography, tax display, resources and contract length, and confirm the checkout total before buying.
Hostinger US VPS
Hostinger says its VPS plans are paid upfront and that the displayed monthly rate is the term’s total cost divided by the number of months. Its US page lists these rates for two-year plans:
| Plan | Introductory rate | Renewal rate | Listed resources |
|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 | $6.49/month | $11.99/month | 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, 4 TB bandwidth |
| KVM 2 | $8.99/month | $14.99/month | 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe, 8 TB bandwidth |
| KVM 4 | $12.99/month | $28.99/month | 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 200 GB NVMe, 16 TB bandwidth |
| KVM 8 | $25.99/month | $49.99/month | 8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB NVMe, 32 TB bandwidth |
The monthly figures represent the two-year term, not a month-to-month price. Hostinger’s VPS page also lists weekly backups, manual snapshots and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Check the current plan terms for eligibility and inclusions.

Hostinger managed website hosting
For US readers, Hostinger’s page displays these managed-hosting offers for 48-month terms. The listed monthly prices exclude VAT; the page gives the upfront total and renewal rate:

| Cloud Startup | $7.99/month for 48 months | $383.52 | $25.99/month |
These are displayed offers, not promises about future pricing. Review the included site limits, storage, backups and other features for the specific plan; the low initial monthly equivalent comes with a four-year upfront term.
Contabo US VPS and server options
Contabo’s US page lists Cloud VPS, performance VPS, Storage VPS, VDS and dedicated servers. The displayed products are priced for 24-month terms, and the listed prices include VAT. One example is Cloud VPS 6: $6.00/month for 6 vCPU, 12 GB RAM, 200 GB SSD, a 300 Mbit/s port and unlimited traffic. The page also displays Cloud VPS 4 at $4.40/month. Check the current page for the remaining configurations and location-specific availability.
Contabo’s fair-use terms say unusually high or disruptive traffic may be throttled to preserve fair access. Treat “unlimited traffic” as subject to that policy, not as an assurance that every pattern of use is unrestricted.

Which provider should you choose?
Choose Hostinger managed hosting if you are starting a website
- You want a bundled website plan rather than responsibility for routine VPS administration.
- You value a beginner-oriented option with listed site limits, storage, backups and other included features.
- You have checked the full upfront commitment and renewal rate and are comfortable with them.
Consider Hostinger VPS if you want a specified KVM tier
- You want VPS access with published CPU, RAM, storage and bandwidth allocations.
- Weekly backups and manual snapshots matter to your recovery plan.
- The bandwidth allowance and server-management work suit your application.
Consider Contabo if you need infrastructure choices
- Your requirement is specifically VPS, VDS or dedicated-server infrastructure.
- Its listed configurations and available locations fit your needs, and you are prepared to administer the server.
- You have confirmed the exact SKU’s total term cost, backup options and applicable traffic policy.
Can you call one of them faster or more reliable?
Not on the evidence available from their product pages. Neither provider’s own specifications establish an independent, side-by-side performance winner. Contabo advertises “99.996% uptime” on its home page; that is Contabo’s claim, not independently confirmed uptime. A meaningful comparison would require current independent tests of comparable plans, locations and workloads.
For a VPS decision, start with the application’s actual CPU, memory, storage and bandwidth needs, then compare the same server geography and billing period. For a beginner choosing a place to host a conventional website, the more important distinction is whether you want managed hosting or are ready to run a server.
