ConnexPay says eligible virtual cards can now be provisioned directly to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for tap-to-pay purchases at physical stores and other in-person points of sale. Recipients can use the wallet already on their device without downloading a separate app, extending the cards beyond online and remote payments. ConnexPay has not published the eligibility rules or supported-device and country details.
What ConnexPay announced
In an announcement datelined October 1, 2026, ConnexPay said eligible virtual cards can be added to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet and used for tap-to-pay purchases at physical points of sale. The announcement page also displays a September 30, 2026 publication date, so October 1 is the release dateline rather than an unambiguous publication date. ConnexPay’s announcement does not provide a rollout schedule or identify launch customers.

The change gives a recipient a way to use a virtual card in person through a mobile wallet, rather than entering card details for an online or remote transaction. ConnexPay CEO Ben Peters described the aim as extending virtual cards’ business controls to in-person payments, saying a digital card could be used at a physical point of sale like a physical card. These are ConnexPay’s claims about the feature, not evidence of independently measured outcomes.
Who might use the feature
ConnexPay presents the wallet option for businesses issuing controlled virtual-card payments. Its examples include paying for a hotel at the front desk, covering time-sensitive expenses during travel disruptions, corporate travel and expense programs, and vendor purchases at a physical checkout. The company does not identify customers using the feature for these scenarios, so they should be understood as proposed use cases rather than verified deployments.

- 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 & 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Track your wallet in real-time, trigger alerts, and enable Lost Mode using the Apple Find My or Google Find Hub network
- 𝟗𝟓𝐝𝐁 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: Loud and clear with up to a 300ft (90m) range*, making your wallet easy to locate. For best performance, place the tracker card under your Cash Strap/Money Clip. In open areas it can reach up to 300 ft; inside a Ridge Wallet, the range may vary.
- 𝐖𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲: 155mAh battery charges via any Qi or MagSafe charger and lasts up to 5 months—no replacements needed.
- 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: IP68 rated to withstand splashes and spills for everyday durability.
- 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 & 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Get instant notifications if your wallet moves out of range. Use Siri to locate your Tracker Card or view its location on a map.
For a finance or payments team, the practical question is whether a recipient needs to make an in-person payment and can receive an eligible card in a supported wallet. A mobile wallet may offer a convenient alternative to sending card details or arranging a physical card, but the announcement does not say that every card, recipient, merchant, device, or country qualifies.
What spending controls ConnexPay describes
ConnexPay’s virtual-card product page describes instant issuance through an API, rules set when a card is issued, lifecycle tracking through webhooks, and authorization controls that can include transaction limits, merchant-category restrictions, and geographic controls. These are platform capabilities described by the company. The wallet announcement does not establish which controls apply to every wallet-provisioned card or explain how they work together with a mobile wallet.

ConnexPay also says it has expanded issuing to include Mastercard physical cards. The company says existing virtual-card customers can add physical cards without replacing or rebuilding their issuing programs, with spend controls, configurable limits, merchant-category restrictions, program-management tools, and rebate opportunities remaining available. It positions physical cards as an option for cases where a physical credential is preferred or required. The announcement does not provide a detailed feature-by-feature comparison with wallet-based virtual cards.

Market context and earlier wallet support
ConnexPay cited two market figures in its announcement: Juniper Research’s forecast, as cited by ConnexPay, that global virtual-card transaction value would rise from $5.2 trillion in 2025 to $17.4 trillion by 2029, a 235% increase; and Worldpay’s Global Payments Report 2026 figure, as cited by ConnexPay, that digital wallets accounted for 17% of U.S. physical point-of-sale transaction value. These figures are reproduced as ConnexPay attributed them; they have not been independently checked against the original reports here, and the announcement does not supply their underlying methodology.

Mobile-wallet provisioning for commercial virtual cards predates ConnexPay’s announcement. In October 2024, Visa announced that commercial virtual cards could be pushed to Apple Pay and Google Pay, with controls including spending limits and transaction monitoring. That precedent does not establish that ConnexPay uses Visa’s implementation or provides identical capabilities: Visa’s announcement.
