A September 14, 2026 tutorial says its RollingGo setup takes about five minutes, but that is the author’s estimate—not a measured guarantee. Its endpoint, credential format, and client steps are service-specific; confirm them with the provider and check the current instructions for your installed client version.
What the hotel MCP server does
A September 14, 2026 tutorial describes RollingGo Hotel MCP as a remote service that exposes five tools: searchHotels to find hotel candidates and display rates; getHotelDetail to retrieve room types, rate plans, cancellation terms, and child policies; getHotelSearchTags to return valid search tags; searchAirports to look up airport and city codes; and searchFlights to find flight options. These are the tutorial’s descriptions, not independently confirmed current service documentation. Read the tutorial.

The tutorial gives https://mcp.rollinggo.ai/mcp as the hotel endpoint and https://mcp.rollinggo.ai/mcp/flight as the flight endpoint. It says to obtain an API key through the provider’s account site and send it as a Bearer token. Because endpoints and authentication requirements can change, confirm the current values and supported transport with the provider before configuring a client.

- Get the service’s current API key and confirm that it is authorized for the MCP endpoint you plan to use.
- Have the exact server URL and authentication instructions available. The example below uses an Authorization header in the form
Bearer mcp_your_key_here; replace the example value with your own secret, and never share or commit a real key. - Choose your client and follow its configuration surface: Claude Desktop’s MCP settings, Cursor’s
mcp.json, or Cline’s MCP settings file. - Plan to test with a future check-in date and a clear destination. A saved configuration alone does not prove that the connection works.
Connect the server in Claude Desktop
The tutorial describes adding a remote HTTP MCP server through Claude Desktop’s Settings → MCP Servers interface, entering the hotel endpoint and an Authorization header, then restarting the app and opening a new conversation. The available controls can vary by Claude Desktop version, so use the equivalent remote-server settings if labels differ.

- Open Claude Desktop settings and go to MCP Servers.
- Add a remote server using the provider-confirmed hotel URL. If the interface requests headers, enter
Authorizationas the header name andBearer mcp_your_key_hereas the value, substituting your key. - Save the configuration, fully restart Claude Desktop, and start a new conversation.
- Ask for hotels in a destination for future dates. Confirm that Claude invokes
searchHotelsrather than merely answering without using the server.
Microsoft’s general host guide documents a claude_desktop_config.json configuration pattern, platform-specific file locations, and a full restart as part of setup and verification. It is general host guidance, not confirmation of RollingGo-specific configuration details. See Microsoft’s MCP host guide.
Add the server to Cursor
Cursor’s documentation supports custom MCP servers in mcp.json: use .cursor/mcp.json for a project-level configuration or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for a global one. Cursor supports remote URL entries, headers, OAuth, and local stdio configurations; use the transport and authentication method the provider actually supports. Check Cursor’s MCP documentation.
- Create or edit
.cursor/mcp.jsonin the project, or~/.cursor/mcp.jsonfor global configuration. - Add a server entry using Cursor’s current documented format, the confirmed hotel endpoint, and the provider’s authentication details. Do not assume that a configuration example for another client can be copied unchanged.
- Save the file and open Cursor’s Agent mode.
- Ask for a hotel search with future dates and check the tool-use indicator for
searchHotels.
Configure Cline
The tutorial identifies Cline’s configuration file as cline_mcp_settings.json and gives a VS Code global-storage location that varies by operating system. Its example uses a URL, HTTP transport, and an Authorization Bearer header. Treat the file path and field names as tutorial-reported details: verify them against the Cline extension version you have installed.
- Close VS Code before editing the Cline settings file, as the tutorial recommends.
- Locate the applicable
cline_mcp_settings.jsonfor your operating system and extension version, then add a server using Cline’s current format and the provider-confirmed URL and credentials. - Reopen VS Code and inspect Cline’s MCP panel for a green server status.
- Ask Cline to search hotels for a future stay, then confirm that the request invokes
searchHotels.
How to verify the connection and interpret results
A client reporting a configured or connected server is useful, but the more meaningful check is an actual hotel-search tool call. The tutorial recommends testing a request with future dates, then checking that the client invokes searchHotels. If the tool runs but returns no results, inspect the request before assuming the connection is broken.

- Dates: The tutorial reports that past dates may return empty results. Test with dates that are still in the future.
- Destination type: Match
placeandplaceType. For example, do not label a landmark as a city. - Authentication: If the service expects a Bearer token, the value needs the
Bearerprefix, one space, and then the key. - Zero-priced results: The tutorial warns that
totalPrice: 0does not necessarily mean a stay is free. - Rates: A search display rate may differ from a current bookable rate. Fetch the property’s details with
getHotelDetailbefore presenting a final price, and verify availability and terms with the service before relying on them.

The tutorial reports that RollingGo had 200M+ properties globally, 110K+ direct-contracted hotels, and 500+ suppliers across 100+ countries, with the year given as 2026. It also reports 760K+ MCP calls and 2,500+ downloads, attributed to the article author on September 14, 2026. These are source claims, not independently corroborated or audited market statistics, so they should not be treated as a guarantee of availability in a particular destination.

Choosing among Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Cline
| Client | Configuration surface | Scope or path | Connection check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Desktop | MCP Servers settings UI described by the tutorial; Microsoft also documents a JSON configuration pattern | Settings UI, or platform-specific claude_desktop_config.json location in Microsoft’s general guide |
Restart, open a new conversation, and confirm a searchHotels tool call |
| Cursor | mcp.json |

Use Agent mode and confirm the searchHotels tool-use indicator |
| Cline | Cline extension settings file, identified by the tutorial as cline_mcp_settings.json |
VS Code global-storage path varies by operating system and extension version | Check the MCP panel status, then verify an actual searchHotels invocation |
There is not enough comparable evidence to rank these clients by setup speed or feature performance. The practical difference is where each stores configuration and how it surfaces a live tool call.
