Microsoft Edge’s DiskCacheSize policy sets a suggested disk-cache size in bytes; it does not impose a hard storage ceiling. Microsoft recommends leaving it unconfigured for most deployments because Edge manages cache size automatically. If you have a specific operational reason to set it, use the Edge management controls available in your Microsoft 365 tenant or another supported management route, then verify the policy and restart Edge.
What the DiskCacheSize policy does
DiskCacheSize, displayed as “Set disk cache size, in bytes,” accepts an integer. It provides a hint to Edge’s cache subsystems, rather than a fixed quota: combined cache use may exceed the configured value while remaining within the same order of magnitude. Values below a few megabytes are rounded up to a reasonable minimum.

A value of 0 tells Edge to use its default cache size and prevents users from overriding that setting. When the policy is enabled, it takes precedence over a user’s --disk-cache-size command-line flag. If the policy is not configured, Edge uses its default and users can use that flag to override it. Can you configure it in the Microsoft 365 admin center?
Microsoft describes the Microsoft Edge management service in the Microsoft 365 admin center as a dedicated management tool, but says it is rolling out. Availability and interface may therefore differ between tenants. Microsoft’s current Windows policy configuration guidance does not establish a universal click-by-click path for setting this particular policy in every tenant.
If the Edge management controls are available in your tenant, use them to configure and assign the policy according to your organization’s device and user scope. Do not assume a particular menu label or that every tenant has the same controls. Microsoft’s Windows policy configuration guide describes the management service and rollout.

Other supported ways to deliver the policy
MDM custom setting
For a managed Windows device, Microsoft documents a custom MDM policy route when the setting is not available through the standard Edge Administrative Templates in Intune. With the ADMX ingestion name Edge, mandatory namespace microsoft_edge, and the ungrouped DiskCacheSize policy, the OMA-URI is:

Windows Group Policy
In Windows Group Policy, find the setting under Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge. The corresponding registry location is SOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftEdge, with a REG_DWORD named DiskCacheSize.
Microsoft gives 335544320 bytes (hexadecimal 0x14000000) as an example. It is an example configuration value, not a recommended cache size or a guaranteed maximum.

Apply the setting and check it on a device
- Configure and assign the policy. Deliver
DiskCacheSizeusing the management route available to your organization, and provide its integer value in bytes. - Refresh policy delivery where applicable. For Active Directory Group Policy, you can run
gpupdate /forceon the client to trigger a refresh. - Inspect Edge’s applied policy list. On the target device, open Microsoft Edge and go to
edge://policy. Check whetherDiskCacheSizeappears with the expected value. - Restart the browser. Close and reopen Edge after setting or changing the policy. Dynamic refresh is not supported for this policy, so a refresh alone may not make the change take effect.
