Short answer: Restream is the clearest fit if you need a cloud service to replay a prerecorded vertical video as a YouTube Live event: it documents up to 10 replays, not an indefinite loop. StreamYard documents scheduled prerecorded broadcasts and paid-plan landscape-plus-portrait output, but its reviewed help page does not establish repeat playback. YouTube Live Control Room supports vertical live video, but the reviewed YouTube guidance does not establish a cloud service for looping uploaded video.
If you need a stream to stay on continuously, do not assume that “scheduled prerecorded stream” means unlimited looping. Confirm the service’s current repeat limit and plan restrictions before building around it.

What “looping a vertical YouTube Live video” requires
There are two separate requirements: the video must be delivered as a YouTube Live event, and it must have a portrait 9:16 presentation if you want it to appear as vertical live content. A service may schedule an uploaded video without replaying it; another may support both landscape and portrait but create separate live events rather than one event that changes orientation.
- Limited replay: the video repeats a stated number of times and then stops.
- Continuous loop: the video repeats without a stated end point. The reviewed documentation for the services below does not establish this for Restream or StreamYard.
- Vertical output: the YouTube stream is actually configured for portrait viewing, rather than simply showing a horizontal video on a phone.
YouTube describes horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 formats, with vertical layout choices in Live Control Room. It says vertical live streams can be discovered in the Shorts feed on mobile. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance also notes format-specific feature differences, so check the current experience if chat links or live ad formats matter to your channel.

2. Restream: documented replay up to 10 times
Restream Upload & Stream lets you upload a single video or playlist, schedule it as a prerecorded live event, and replay a scheduled video up to 10 times. That is a defined repeat limit, not evidence of a continuous 24/7 loop. If the event must continue beyond those replays, ask Restream whether a current plan or feature supports that use case before relying on it.
Making the output vertical
Restream’s YouTube Shorts guide says the stream must be vertical, at 9:16, to appear in the Shorts feed. That vertical live feed is available in the YouTube mobile app. Do not treat a horizontal source cropped for a phone as equivalent to a purpose-built portrait composition: check how important subjects, text, and subtitles fit the actual vertical frame.

Sending both landscape and portrait
Restream separately documents a dual-output workflow through its OBS plugin. It sends landscape and portrait as separate YouTube live events, and the feeds can have customized layouts. See its YouTube streaming guide for the workflow. This is distinct from uploading one prerecorded video for limited replay, so confirm how the two workflows fit your scheduling and loop requirements.

StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream documentation says a broadcast starts automatically at its selected time and ends when the video finishes. The reviewed page does not say the video repeats; treat it as scheduled playback, not a confirmed loop.
The help page lists MP4/H.264 uploads, a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps, up to 1080p on paid plans, and plan-specific maximum file sizes and video durations. The listed duration limits vary by plan (2, 4, or 8 hours), and scheduling can be up to 365 days ahead. These are vendor-documented limits; check the current page and your plan before preparing a long broadcast.

For portrait output, StreamYard’s MARS guide describes portrait as 9:16. Its landscape-plus-portrait YouTube workflow creates two posts/destinations, counts as two destinations, and is available on paid plans. That orientation option does not itself establish that a prerecorded video repeats.

YouTube Live Control Room supports horizontal and vertical formats at the same time. The default vertical view is a center crop of the horizontal stream, but the layout can be adjusted using center crop, fit to phone width, or stacked, including zoom and position. Configure the vertical layout before starting: YouTube says it cannot be added after the stream has begun.

The reviewed YouTube page establishes live formats and layout controls, not a cloud workflow that loops an uploaded recording. If you need repeat playback, choose a service that explicitly documents it and verify its limit.
