Colorlib Error 404 V5 is a free HTML template for a missing-page screen, with a search field and a Go Back link. The search field is not a working site-search service by itself: you need to connect its form to your own site’s search endpoint and update the wording to fit your site.
What Colorlib Error 404 V5 includes
The template gives visitors two routes from a 404 page: search for what they wanted, or use the Go Back link to return to the previous page. Colorlib’s listing describes a search bar and a Go Back button; its 2026 roundup calls the latter a link. Neither description indicates that the template supplies a search backend.

It is a free HTML page template, not a complete error-handling or search system. Whether it fits depends on the visual style you want and whether you can connect its controls to routes your site actually supports.
What you need to configure
- Connect search. Point the form to your site’s own search endpoint. Until you do, the presence of a search field does not establish that searches will work.
- Adapt the wording. Change the page text and prompts so they make sense for your site and its visitors.
- Check the visitor routes. Confirm that the search destination accepts the form submission and that the Go Back link behaves appropriately in your site’s context.
Colorlib’s roundup specifically identifies connecting the form and adjusting the wording as setup tasks. It does not document a particular CMS, endpoint format, or implementation procedure, so those details depend on your site.

Colorlib’s official listing states “License: CC BY 3.0.” The same listing displays March 19, 2021 as its page date and separately labels the template “Released: 2025.” These are distinct displayed metadata labels; the listing does not explain how they relate, so neither should be presented as the single definitive release date.
