There is no single best color inkjet for every small business: the right choice depends on print volume, whether you need scanning or fax, and the paper sizes you use. This five-model shortlist covers refillable tanks, a cartridge-based multifunction printer, and a wide-format print-only option. It draws on US manufacturer specifications and UK reviews, so confirm the local model and features before buying.
How to choose a small-business color inkjet
Compare the printer’s purchase price with the cost and expected yield of replacement ink for your own monthly volume. Refillable tanks can reduce ongoing ink spending but may cost more upfront; cartridges may suit lower or less predictable volume, while frequent color printing can make their supply costs more significant. Do not treat yield figures or cost-per-page estimates as directly comparable unless they use the same country, ink SKU, and measurement method.

- Match the workflow: Decide whether you need only printing or also scanning, copying, fax, and an automatic document feeder (ADF). Check whether the ADF can duplex-scan; an all-in-one label alone does not guarantee that function.
- Check paper needs: Consider tray count and capacity as well as whether you print legal, tabloid, or A3+ sheets.
- Verify the exact regional SKU: Product names and bundles can vary by market, and features may differ between related models.
Five options by business need
1. Canon MAXIFY GX4020 family: refillable all-in-one
TechRadar’s 2026 small-business guide includes the GX4020 as a MegaTank all-in-one. Related regional names include GX4050 and GX4060; confirm which model is sold locally and check its feature set rather than assuming the suffixes are interchangeable. A refillable tank is worth considering if you print enough to value lower ongoing ink costs and want multifunction capability. See TechRadar’s small-business printer guide.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C5890: office-oriented multifunction
For US buyers seeking an office-focused MFP, Epson lists a 25 ISO pages-per-minute speed for both black and color. Epson also states maximum replacement yields of 10,000 black pages and 5,000 color pages, and a two-year limited warranty. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results; the yield figures follow Epson’s stated methodology, and warranty terms should be checked for the buyer’s region. Review Epson’s WF-C5890 specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Brother DCP-T780DW: compact refillable option for lighter work
ITPro’s UK coverage describes this refillable ink-tank MFP as suited to home workers and micro-offices, with low reported running costs. Its limits matter for office use: it has one paper tray, no fax, and its ADF does not duplex-scan. That makes it a weaker fit if you handle two-sided document scanning or need those office functions. Confirm the local equivalent before treating it as a US-market recommendation. Read ITPro’s printer coverage.
4. HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e: cartridge MFP for document workflows
This cartridge-based four-in-one is an option when multifunction workflow matters more than refillable-tank economics. ITPro describes duplex printing and duplex-capable ADF workflows; its 2025 review reported 22.1 pages per minute for black text under that review’s conditions. Treat that speed as a review finding rather than a guaranteed result for every job. The review’s prices and availability are UK-specific and time-sensitive. Check ITPro’s review context.

5. Epson WorkForce Pro WF-7310: tabloid or A3+ printing
Choose this model when wide-format output is the defining need. TechRadar’s guide, updated September 2, 2026, describes a print-only inkjet with two trays, up to 500-sheet total input capacity, and support for paper up to A3+/Tabloid. It does not scan or copy. TechRadar also warns that cartridge costs can make frequent, high-volume color printing expensive, so weigh that trade-off against the value of larger-format output. See the WF-7310 in TechRadar’s guide.

- Frequent everyday printing plus scanning or copying: Start with the refillable Canon MAXIFY family or office-oriented Epson WF-C5890, then compare the exact local features, upfront price, and replacement ink.
- Lighter printing in a small workspace: The UK-reviewed Brother DCP-T780DW is a compact tank option if its single tray and lack of fax and duplex ADF scanning fit your workflow.
- Multifunction document handling: The HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e offers a cartridge-based alternative with duplex printing and duplex-capable ADF workflows, but its cited performance and pricing evidence is UK review material.
- Tabloid or A3+ output: The WF-7310 is the shortlist’s wide-format choice, provided print-only operation and cartridge costs suit the job.
Are all-in-one printers good for small businesses?
They can be, if printing, scanning, and copying belong in the same workflow. Check each task separately: whether the device faxes, whether the ADF handles the document sizes you use, and whether it duplex-scans. The DCP-T780DW illustrates why that last detail matters: it is an MFP, but its ADF does not duplex-scan. If you need only larger-format printing, the print-only WF-7310 may be a better match than paying for functions you will not use.
