Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsNo. You do not need a formal product requirements document (PRD) before every coding-agent task. For a small, well-defined change, a concise brief is usually enough. For work that is large, ambiguous, cross-cutting, or high-risk, research the repository and agree on a reviewable implementation plan before asking the agent to change code.
PRD, task brief, and implementation plan are different tools
A PRD describes the problem, the intended user outcome, requirements, constraints, and how success will be recognized. A task brief translates a bounded request into instructions an agent can act on. An implementation plan explains how a change should be delivered in a particular codebase.

These documents can overlap, but they are not interchangeable. A PRD answers what and why; a plan answers how. For a small fix, a task brief may cover what the agent needs without a separate PRD. For a substantial feature, a PRD may clarify the desired behavior while a plan maps that behavior to repository-specific work.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Choose the amount of planning by the task
There is no source-backed numeric cutoff for when planning becomes necessary. Consider scope, ambiguity, affected components, dependencies, business logic, the consequences of a mistake, and how much relevant context the agent can discover.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Task situation | What to provide before coding | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small and clear | A concise task brief with desired behavior, relevant paths or examples, constraints, and an expected result. | The agent has a bounded request and enough context to act. OpenAI recommends issue-style prompts with useful paths, components, diffs, or documentation where relevant (OpenAI Codex guidance). |
| Large or multi-part | Ask for an implementation plan, review it, then use it to guide implementation. | Reviewing the proposed approach before coding helps expose missing steps or assumptions. OpenAI recommends this workflow for large changes (OpenAI Codex guidance). |
| Complex, unclear, or repository-wide | Have the agent research the codebase and propose an approach before implementation. | Broad refactors, dependency-heavy legacy changes, substantial business logic, and unclear tasks benefit from understanding the repository and agreeing on an approach first (GitHub Copilot cloud-agent guidance). |
| High consequence | Use a written brief or plan and set human review proportionate to the risk. | GitHub cautions against delegating some production-critical, security-sensitive, or otherwise sensitive tasks as ordinary Copilot cloud-agent work. This is guidance for that product, not a universal rule for every coding agent (GitHub Copilot cloud-agent guidance). |
What to include in a small-task brief
Make the request specific enough that the agent can identify both the intended change and how to check it. Include:
- Outcome: describe the behavior you want, not just a vague instruction such as “improve this.”
- Context: point to relevant files, components, examples, or documentation if you know them.
- Constraints: state important compatibility requirements, boundaries, or approaches to avoid.
- Acceptance check: explain what should be demonstrably true when the change is complete, such as a behavior, test, or command result.
OpenAI’s Codex guidance suggests structuring prompts like GitHub issues and including relevant paths, components, diffs, or documentation where useful (OpenAI Codex guidance). You do not need to invent repository details: ask the agent to inspect the relevant area when you are unsure where the change belongs.

What a useful plan should make reviewable
For a complex feature or significant refactor, the plan should stand on its own rather than depend on scattered conversation context. It should explain why the change matters, define assumptions and important terms, outline implementation steps, and say what behavior will demonstrate completion. The OpenAI Cookbook’s ExecPlan guidance describes this kind of self-contained, maintained plan for complex work; it is a detailed method, not a requirement for every request (OpenAI Cookbook: Codex execution plans).

Put recurring project context in repository instructions
If the same conventions and setup details matter across tasks, record them in an instruction file supported by the agent you use. Useful durable context can include architecture, coding conventions, known quirks, and build or test commands. OpenAI describes AGENTS.md as a way to provide Codex with context it cannot infer; GitHub documents supported instruction-file formats for Copilot cloud agent (OpenAI Codex guidance; GitHub Copilot cloud-agent guidance). OpenAI’s Codex instructions also describe repository-level AGENTS.md files (OpenAI Codex default instructions).
Keep these instructions focused on stable project context. Task-specific requirements still belong in the request or plan, where they can be reviewed for that change.

What the guidance does—and does not—establish
The cited material is vendor guidance about workflows for particular tools. It does not report a controlled comparison of PRDs versus no PRDs, a measured improvement from writing a PRD, or a threshold at which one becomes necessary. Use planning to clarify the work and make the approach reviewable, not because a formal document is proven to improve every coding-agent outcome.
