The CMF Clip Pro’s biggest drawback is also part of its design: these open-ear earbuds let you hear your surroundings, but they can also let your music escape into them. That makes them a more natural fit for walks and other situations where awareness matters than for a quiet office, library, or shared room. Independent reviews also raise questions about call quality and battery life, so the Clip Pro are not an automatic pick just because their clip-on fit and feature list look appealing.
Why sound leakage is the problem to consider first
The Clip Pro sit around the ear rather than sealing the ear canal. You can hear nearby sounds more readily than with sealed in-ear earbuds, which can be useful when walking or when you want to remain aware of conversation around you. The trade-off is limited isolation: nearby people may hear your audio, particularly if you turn the volume up in a quiet space.
RTINGS reports that environmental sounds remain clearly audible and that the Clip Pro leak quite a bit of audio, especially at high volume. Nothing Support gives a similar warning for its open-sound earbuds: “Our Nothing OWS Earbuds are of the near-ear open sound design, which may easily cause noise disturbance to people around when used at high volume.” The practical point is simple: open-ear listening is not private listening.
What leakage prevention changes
Nothing Support says its leakage-prevention function can reduce sound escaping from the earbuds, but warns that enabling it can change sound quality and volume. In SoundGuys’ review, the mode reduced leakage but made the sound muffled for that reviewer. Treat it as a compromise to try in context, not as a way to turn open-ear earbuds into sealed, private headphones.

What the Clip Pro are—and what the specifications establish
Nothing Technology Japan announced the CMF Clip Pro on August 15, 2026, describing them as clip-style open-ear earbuds. The announcement lists a three-point clip with a flexible titanium-wire core, a 10.8 mm dual-magnet driver, and Ultra Bass tuning. It also lists LDAC, AAC, and SBC codec support; Bluetooth 5.4; dual-device connection; low-latency mode; Google Fast Pair; Microsoft Swift Pair; and IP54 dust and splash protection. Each earbud is listed with two HD microphones plus a voice pickup unit, and the charging case has a Smart Dial.
Those are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent proof of sound, call, or durability performance. IP54 is a dust- and splash-protection rating; it should not be read as a promise that the earbuds are waterproof or suitable for submersion. The Japanese announcement lists light grey, dark grey, and coral color options.

Battery life: separate the claim from review results
The maker’s figures and reviewers’ results are not directly interchangeable: test settings and methods differ. In particular, SoundGuys reports a result with LDAC enabled, while the other review figures below were reported under their respective conditions.
| Source | Reported runtime | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing Technology Japan, August 15, 2026 announcement | Up to 10 hours from the earbuds; up to 32.5 hours total with the case | Manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement. |
| Nothing Technology Japan, August 15, 2026 announcement | A 10-minute quick charge is claimed to provide up to four hours of playback | Manufacturer claim; actual results can depend on use and settings. |
| SoundGuys, 2026 review | Nine hours with LDAC enabled | Reviewer result under its test conditions. |
| Notebookcheck, 2026 review | Around eight hours | Reviewer measurement; the exact publication date was not established in the cited passage. |
| RTINGS review | A little over six hours in its comparison | Reviewer comparison result; RTINGS characterizes continuous battery life as relatively short. |
The spread is a reason to plan around your own listening habits rather than treating the highest number as guaranteed. Codec choice and volume are among the conditions that can make runtime comparisons misleading; the available review results do not establish one universal figure for every user.

Sound, calls, and fit: what reviewers found
Sound
Reviewers broadly describe a bright presentation with limited bass, but their descriptions of how it behaves vary. RTINGS notes emphasized treble that can sound harsh and limited bass reproduction. SoundGuys likewise describes the sound as bright and spacious, with light bass; its reviewer found that bass enhancement could introduce distortion. Notebookcheck found the sound reasonably clean at moderate levels, but reported reduced clarity and overdriven deep bass at higher volume. These are review impressions, not a guarantee that every listener will hear the same result.
Calls
Call results are a concern if you regularly take meetings or calls in noisy places. RTINGS says voices can sound distorted and distant, particularly in challenging noise. Notebookcheck found speech intelligible but the caller’s voice harsh and metallic. SoundGuys found that noise rejection struggled in its street and windy-condition samples. The presence of multiple microphones and a voice pickup unit in the manufacturer’s specification does not, by itself, establish how well calls will sound in your environment.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Fit and comfort
RTINGS describes the fit as comfortable and lightweight, and Notebookcheck found it secure. SoundGuys reported comfort over several hours, but also said sweat made the earbuds slide for that reviewer. Clip-style fit is personal: ear shape, movement, and moisture can all affect how secure or comfortable a pair feels, so these accounts should not be read as a universal fit guarantee.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should consider the Clip Pro—and who should look elsewhere?
They make more sense if
- You want an open-ear design that leaves nearby sounds audible.
- You value clip-on earbuds and features such as LDAC, multipoint connection, and a case-mounted control dial.
- You mostly listen in settings where some sound leakage is acceptable.
Look elsewhere if
- You need audio privacy in a quiet shared space or strong isolation from surrounding noise.
- You rely on clear calls in noisy or windy conditions.
- You need a predictable all-day runtime and want the longest independent battery result rather than the manufacturer’s maximum claim.
These are trade-offs, not a verdict that open-ear earbuds are inherently unsuitable. The key question is whether ambient awareness is worth accepting leakage and limited isolation for the places you actually listen.

How the alternatives compare
RTINGS compares the Clip Pro with Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, Shokz OpenDots 2, and SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro. Its comparison says the Bose offers longer battery life and better microphone performance than the CMF, while the Clip Pro offers LDAC and multipoint. RTINGS describes the SoundPEATS as a more budget-conscious option with shorter battery life, and the Shokz as a more expensive clip-on choice. These are relative review comparisons, not a current price list; availability and prices vary by market and date.
Use the features that matter to you as the deciding factors: fit stability, call performance, measured runtime, codec and multipoint support, and how much leakage or ambient awareness you will tolerate. LDAC support alone does not establish better overall performance.
Price and availability depend on where you shop
Nothing Technology Japan listed a Japanese launch price of ¥12,800 including tax in its August 15, 2026 announcement. That is a launch-market price, not a universal or necessarily current price. Nothing’s Canadian storefront showed CA$139 and sold out when accessed; that is a time-specific snapshot, not a reliable statement of present stock or pricing. Check the seller, color, and availability for your region before buying.
