Choose Ironmaster if footprint matters and slower changes are acceptable
The manufacturer lists the Quick-Lock 75 lb set at 6.7 inches square by 14.5 inches long when set to 75 lb, and 9 inches long at 20 lb. That range may suit someone whose current and planned lifts fit within the listed maximum; it is not the high-capacity option among the models described here. BowFlex 552 and 1090: check the recall before buying or using
On June 5, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 3,844,200 BowFlex 552 and 1090 adjustable dumbbells. The notice says, “The weight plates can dislodge from the handle during use, posing an impact hazard.” It identifies affected model and serial number ranges and instructs consumers to stop using recalled units and contact the company for a remedy. Check the CPSC recall notice for the affected ranges and remedy instructions, particularly before buying used equipment.
The same notice reports 337 plate-dislodging reports for units sold by Nautilus, including 111 reports of injuries; separately, it reports 12 plate-dislodging reports and no injuries for units sold by Johnson Health Tech Trading. These figures are reported incidents associated with the covered recall, not an injury rate. Do not treat a newer BowFlex Results Series listing as part of the recall—or as cleared by it—without verifying the exact model and serial number.
