Short answer: Choose Cloudinary URL2PNG if screenshots need to flow into an existing Cloudinary image-management and delivery pipeline. Choose ScreenshotOne if you want a dedicated screenshot API with documented inputs including URLs, HTML and Markdown, plus a broader set of request-level rendering controls. Cloudinary’s paid add-on price is separate from its base plan; ScreenshotOne publishes standalone monthly plans. Neither vendor’s documentation establishes that its captures are more accurate or reliable than the other’s.
What each service does
Cloudinary URL2PNG
Cloudinary URL2PNG creates website screenshots through dynamic delivery URLs and integrates them into Cloudinary’s image management and transformation pipeline. After capture, the image can be resized, cropped, filtered, overlaid and delivered through Cloudinary. Its documentation highlights viewport, user-agent and delay options. By default, add-on URLs must be signed or eagerly generated; Cloudinary documents a Console Settings option to allow unsigned add-on transformations. See Cloudinary’s URL2PNG documentation.

ScreenshotOne
ScreenshotOne is a hosted screenshot and rendering API. Its options documentation lists URL, HTML and Markdown inputs, and outputs including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, AVIF, HEIF, PDF, HTML and Markdown. The documented controls include selectors, viewport sizing, device emulation, custom styles, content blocking, waits and localization. Requests use HTTPS and an access key; the getting-started documentation also describes POST requests. See ScreenshotOne’s getting-started guide and options reference.
Published pricing and included volume
The figures below are vendor-published monthly prices and quotas observed on October 3, 2026. Pricing can change. Cloudinary add-on prices do not include a Cloudinary base plan; ScreenshotOne says its prices exclude VAT.

How to compare the features that affect your workflow
| Decision point | Cloudinary URL2PNG | ScreenshotOne |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit by workflow | Screenshot generation inside Cloudinary’s image transformation and delivery workflow | Dedicated hosted screenshot and rendering API |
| Documented input | Public website URL | URL, HTML or Markdown |
| Documented output | Screenshot image in Cloudinary’s asset workflow, with subsequent image transformations | Image formats, PDF, HTML or Markdown, depending on request options |
| Capture controls highlighted in documentation | Viewport, user agent and delay | Selectors, viewport and device emulation, styles, blocking, waits and localization, among other options |
| Access model | Add-on registration; URLs are signed or eagerly generated by default, with an option for unsigned transformations in Console Settings | HTTPS requests authenticated with an access key; optional signature is documented |
Account setup and delivery
Cloudinary’s main advantage is workflow continuity: a screenshot can become an asset in the same system used to transform and deliver images. That may simplify a project already using Cloudinary, but the team must account for the add-on registration and URL-signing or eager-generation approach.
ScreenshotOne’s dedicated API may suit a service that needs rendering controls directly in its capture requests or needs inputs beyond a public website URL. Check the specific option documentation against your implementation rather than assuming that a named capability behaves identically across providers.

Formats and rendering controls
Start with the output your application actually consumes: an image, PDF, HTML or Markdown. ScreenshotOne documents all of those output categories and multiple image formats. Cloudinary’s URL2PNG material describes screenshot images and subsequent Cloudinary transformations. The sources establish documented capabilities, not a head-to-head test of output fidelity.
For either service, list required viewport behavior, user-agent handling, wait conditions and any image processing that must happen after capture. ScreenshotOne’s options reference details additional request controls; Cloudinary’s URL2PNG documentation describes its add-on-specific parameters.
Work out the real monthly cost
Do not compare Cloudinary’s add-on price directly with a standalone ScreenshotOne plan and treat the lower number as the cheaper complete solution. For Cloudinary, include the applicable base-plan cost and account for whether the existing Cloudinary account already covers that requirement. For ScreenshotOne, estimate successful captures, uncached renders and the request rate your workload needs.
Rank #3
ScreenshotOne’s pricing FAQ distinguishes failures and caching from billable captures: HTTP, browser or network failures do not consume quota, while successful captures that have visual issues can still count. Responses served from cache generally do not count; a cache miss or expired entry can trigger a new render. These terms affect expected usage, but they do not establish that every visually imperfect result will be detected as a failure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor an apples-to-apples estimate, calculate expected monthly capture requests, likely cache hits, any usage beyond included quotas, and peak requests per minute. Then add Cloudinary’s base-plan cost where relevant and compare the required output formats and controls. The published prices alone cannot determine a particular customer’s total cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one should you choose?
- Choose Cloudinary URL2PNG when captured images belong in an existing Cloudinary transformation and delivery pipeline, and its account setup and signing workflow fit your application.
- Choose ScreenshotOne when a dedicated screenshot API, its documented URL/HTML/Markdown inputs, output choices or request-level controls fit the implementation better.
- Compare total cost rather than headline price when volumes are similar: include Cloudinary’s base plan, ScreenshotOne’s quota and rate limits, and expected cache behavior.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative to try first
If neither account model is a clear fit, ScreenshotNeo is another website screenshot API to consider. Its clean-shot workflow accepts consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be disabled. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents and plans that include 1,000 free screenshots per month without a card.
One-request example
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your ScreenshotNeo access key. This GET request captures the specified URL and saves the response as a WebP file. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients, with tools named take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf. Its paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots; see the ScreenshotNeo site for plan details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the published pricing make one service definitively cheaper?
No. Cloudinary’s add-on prices exclude any applicable base plan, while ScreenshotOne’s usage, quota, caching and overage terms affect the total. Calculate cost for your account and expected workload.
Do the vendors’ documents prove which one produces better screenshots?
No. The documented feature lists and pricing do not establish comparative visual quality, speed or reliability.
