In the list of file types, check Thumbnails. Leave other categories unchecked unless you also intend to remove those files.

These steps follow Microsoft’s Free up drive space in Windows instructions. Windows labels and screen layouts can vary by version or update.
What this cleanup does—and does not establish
Disk Cleanup removes the selected thumbnail-cache files. Microsoft’s instructions do not specify how long thumbnails remain on a particular PC, establish that every deleted photo’s thumbnail is retained for years, or promise forensic-grade erasure.

A thumbnail preview is not the original photo. Clearing this cache should not be taken as evidence that an original file has been securely erased or that copies or traces have been removed from backups, cloud services, or other applications; the cited guidance does not address those locations.

Storage Sense is designed for automatic, configurable management of storage categories such as temporary files and Recycle Bin contents. Microsoft’s Storage Sense guidance does not identify it as the specific thumbnail-cache control. For manually selecting the thumbnail category, Disk Cleanup is the directly documented option.

Windows’ Storage settings also provide storage-use information and cleanup recommendations, but the cited guidance does not describe a separate thumbnail privacy remedy there.
