Claude Code ultrareview and Dromeas Code Review with LLM council use different review workflows, and the available evidence does not establish a general winner. Dromeas reports finding more issues than ultrareview on one pull request, but that vendor-authored result is a case study—not a controlled or independently replicated benchmark. The practical choice depends on how you invoke reviews, what repository context each service receives, how it verifies findings, and what your team can send to a cloud service.
How the two code-review workflows differ
Claude Code ultrareview is manually invoked
Claude Code documentation describes ultrareview as a research-preview, cloud-based review that runs a fleet of reviewer agents in a remote sandbox. It is available in Claude Code v2.1.86 and later, though feature details and availability may change. To review the current branch, the CLI bundles and uploads repository state; in PR mode, it fetches a pull request from GitHub or a connected GitHub Enterprise Server. You invoke it with /code-review ultra or the claude ultrareview subcommand. The documentation says, “The command runs only when you invoke it with /code-review ultra; Claude does not start an ultrareview on its own.” Claude Code documentation explains ultrareview’s scope and invocation.

Before a run, the service shows its scope and estimated cost; it can then continue in the background. The documentation lists three free runs for Pro and Max plans, none for Team and Enterprise, with usage credits used thereafter. Plan entitlements and costs can change, so check the current documentation and estimate shown in the CLI. Ultrareview is not available through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry, and is unavailable to organizations with Zero Data Retention enabled.

Anthropic’s GitHub Code Review is a separate integration
Ultrareview should not be confused with Anthropic’s organization-level GitHub Code Review integration. In the documented setup, an organization owner selects repositories, installs the Claude GitHub App, and configures review triggers such as pull-request opening, each push, or a manual review. The integration can post inline comments; draft pull requests do not trigger a review. Its setup guide says the app requests read and write access for repository contents, issues, and pull requests. The guide also notes that Data Residency tenants using *.ghe.com hostnames are not supported in that setup. These are integration-specific conditions, not descriptions of ultrareview. Anthropic’s setup guide covers the separate GitHub Code Review integration.

Dromeas describes a council and verification workflow
Dromeas presents Code Review with LLM council as a workflow involving multiple specialist agents, independent model analysis, context selection, cross-verification, and a per-model scoreboard. Those feature descriptions are Dromeas’s own claims, not independently verified product findings. “LLM council” describes this vendor’s approach; it is not a standardized certification or guarantee of review quality. Check Dromeas’s current product documentation for how it receives repository context, which models it uses, what it records, and how it handles code and findings. Dromeas’s comparison page describes its claimed features.
What Dromeas’s head-to-head actually reports
In an August 2026 case report, Dromeas says it compared both tools on openclaw/openclaw pull request #124250, a human-approved change touching 31 files and adding 1,064 lines while removing 116. Dromeas reports one ultrareview finding, described as a nit in an Android test. It reports 29 Dromeas candidate findings, of which 17 remained after cross-verification: 12 quality findings and five security findings. Dromeas says 12 compliance findings were dropped or treated as duplicates. Every count here is Dromeas’s account of that run, not an independent measurement.
The result is not a controlled benchmark or evidence that Dromeas generally finds more bugs. It concerns one particular change and one reported configuration; the sources do not establish a common detection rubric, independent adjudication, or replication across other pull requests. A larger candidate count is not itself proof of better review: duplicate, low-confidence, or incorrect findings can inflate a total, while a conservative reviewer may report fewer issues. The available sources do not provide an independently replicated product-specific comparison. Dromeas’s August 2026 article contains its case report and methodology claims.

Multiple models can provide different perspectives, but model count alone does not establish accuracy. Reliability depends on whether reviewers catch distinct issues, whether their judgments are independent, how conflicts and duplicates are resolved, and whether each finding is supported by evidence in the code. A council can also preserve a mistaken assumption shared by its members, or add noise if weak candidates are not filtered.

A 2026 arXiv preprint on cross-model code review reports that results depend on which model authored the draft and which model reviewed it. It does not compare Dromeas with ultrareview, nor does it show that a council is always superior to a single service. It supports treating reviewer diversity as one factor to evaluate, not as a quality guarantee. The preprint discusses how author-reviewer model pairing can affect cross-model code review.
How to choose for a team
Compare the workflows against your repository, security requirements, and review process rather than choosing by a single finding count. For Dromeas, verify its current details directly with the vendor; the cited comparison page makes product claims but does not independently establish them.

- Invocation and integration: Ultrareview is manually started from Claude Code or its CLI subcommand. Decide whether that fits your process, or whether you need the separate GitHub Code Review integration’s organization-managed triggers and inline comments.
- Repository context and data handling: Determine what code, diff, and surrounding context each service receives, where processing occurs, and what retention controls apply. Ultrareview uploads bundled branch state to a remote sandbox; check whether that is compatible with your organization’s policies.
- Finding evidence and auditability: Ask whether you can inspect each candidate, its supporting code, model attribution, verification decision, and dropped findings. A retained-finding total is more useful when reviewers can understand why items were accepted or rejected.
- Coverage and failure handling: Check which issue categories are reviewed and how each workflow treats false positives, duplicate findings, and missed issues. Use your own representative pull requests and a consistent review rubric before relying on either tool.
- Cost and latency: Check current pricing, included runs, usage-credit requirements, and expected wait time for your account and workload. Ultrareview’s documentation shows an estimate before a run; Dromeas’s current costs and timings are not established by the cited comparison materials.
- Deployment and eligibility: Confirm supported Git hosting, model providers, account plans, permissions, and privacy settings. Ultrareview’s documented exclusions include certain cloud-provider deployments and Zero Data Retention organizations.
Bottom line on the comparison
Choose based on workflow fit, data constraints, review transparency, and your own evaluation—not on the reported 17-to-1 finding count. That count comes from Dromeas’s report of a single pull request, and it cannot establish which tool will perform better across your codebase.
