Supercell describes a real-time multiplayer card game in which players build decks, spend Elixir to deploy cards, and attack opposing towers. Its support materials also explain systems such as Card Evolution and Tower Troops, while leaving internal implementation details unpublished.
What “Clash Royale’s code” means
Supercell’s public materials explain player-facing mechanics: what cards and slots do, how certain progression systems work, and how particular modes are described. They do not reveal the game’s source code, server implementation, matchmaking logic, or complete hidden combat formulas. It is more accurate to understand the game through its documented rules than to claim access to its underlying code.

The official overview frames the core loop as collecting and upgrading cards, then using them in real-time battles to knock down the opposing towers. The Clash Royale overview and Supercell’s Clash Royale support index identify the relevant systems, including Elixir, battles, cards and decks, Tower Troops, Evolutions, and Collection Levels.

Decks and card roles
Your deck determines which cards are available to draw and deploy during a battle. Cards include troops, spells, and defenses, which serve different battlefield roles; the goal described in the official overview is to bring down the opposing towers. The support index lists Elixir as a separately documented battle topic, but the sources cited here do not establish a universal Elixir regeneration rate, exact damage formula, or single rule for every mode.

Rules depend on the mode
Clash Royale includes multiple battle formats, and their rules should not be treated as interchangeable. For example, Supercell’s June 2026 description of Princess Gambit calls it a sudden-death mode with two Princess Towers and 40 cards that appear randomly as play proceeds. The update says the cards, levels, and forms are based on each player’s Collection. That is a dated description of Princess Gambit, not a rule for ordinary battles.
How Card Evolution works
Card Evolution is a battle state that must be unlocked and charged; it is not an always-on transformation. Supercell Support says a specific Evolution requires six Evolution Shards to unlock. The evolved form must then be assigned to an Evolution Slot or Wild Slot. In battle, cycle the card the required number of times; its next play deploys the evolved version, after which the cycle begins again. The Evolution ability activates automatically rather than through a separate ability button, according to Supercell’s explanation.

Supercell Support lists the Evolution Slot at Arena 3 (600 trophies) and the Wild Slot at Arena 10 (3,000 trophies). These are progression thresholds stated on its support page and may change. The same guidance notes that some seasonal events, challenges, and Mega Draft modes can limit Evolution use.
What Tower Troops change
Tower Troops let players choose how their Crown Towers deal damage. They are an additional support card for the tower setup, separate from the original eight card slots. Supercell Support says they can be upgraded to Level 16, but not beyond the player’s King Tower Level. Supercell sums up their role this way: “Each Tower Troop will offer a different form of Tower offense!”

Supercell introduced Tower Troops as a new card type in its December 12, 2023 update. That historical post describes them as defending from Crown Towers, occupying a separate deck slot, and being revealed to the opponent when battle starts. For current individual abilities or availability, consult the live game or the current Tower Troops support information; those details can change.

Supercell’s June 2026 Princess Gambit update described Collection Level as the sum of card levels plus five for each owned Evolution and Hero form. Its May 2026 announcement presented Collection Levels and Mastery changes as a simplification to progression tracking. Those descriptions establish how the update characterized the system, but they do not by themselves specify today’s precise reward cadence. Check current in-game News or support information for live progression details.
