Clarke CAMAX24 24in Extra High Output Drum Fan Review

The Clarke CAMAX24 is a 24-inch indoor drum fan rated at 274 m³/min maximum airflow. See its specifications, safety limits and model comparisons.

The Clarke CAMAX24 is a substantial, 24-inch indoor drum fan specified for a maximum airflow of 274 m³/min. It weighs 23.5 kg, runs from a 230 V, 50 Hz supply and is intended for moving air around a large workspace—not for use as an extractor or with ducting. Its specifications make it a plausible option where high-volume air movement matters more than easy portability, but no independent performance or noise testing is available to verify how it performs in a real room. The £209.99 price and Machine Mart availability reported on 8 October 2026 came from a review labelled “Sponsored By” Machine Mart, so check the current price and stock before buying.

What is the Clarke CAMAX24?

The CAMAX24 is a portable, 24-inch drum fan from Clarke International, listed as product number 3231700. Clarke specifies it for indoor use on a 230 V, 50 Hz supply. Its size and published airflow figures point to workshop-scale air circulation rather than a compact desk or household fan.

The manufacturer lists 330 W power consumption and a maximum airflow of 274 m³/min. Those are published specifications, not independently measured results. Clarke also gives a rated airflow of 1.116 m³/s and rated air pressure of 110 Pa “at optimum energy efficiency”; these are separate ratings with stated conditions and should not be confused with the maximum-airflow figure.

How much air does the CAMAX24 move?

Clarke’s maximum-airflow rating is 274 m³/min. It indicates a high-volume fan, but it does not tell you how much air will reach a particular workbench, how far the airflow will carry, or how effectively it will circulate through a room. The available sources do not provide controlled airflow measurements at different distances or in different workspace layouts.

The fan has two speeds, listed in Clarke’s manual as 1304 rpm and 1428 rpm. It can tilt through a 360-degree range according to the product page, allowing the direction of airflow to be adjusted. The manual does not establish that a particular tilt or speed will deliver a specific result in your workspace.

How loud is a 24-inch drum fan?

Clarke’s manual gives the CAMAX24 a sound-power level of 87 dB(A) LwA. Sound power describes the sound emitted by the source; it is not a sound-pressure reading taken at a listener’s position. Your experience will depend on distance, room acoustics and surroundings. No independent noise test or listener-position measurement was located, so the published figure is not enough to promise that the fan will be quiet or predict exactly how loud it will seem beside a work area.

Can you use the CAMAX24 in a garage?

Clarke specifies indoor use, but its manual warns against dusty environments, chemical fumes, high humidity and water vapour. A garage or workshop may contain precisely those conditions, so suitability depends on the actual space: a dry, reasonably clean indoor work area is a better fit than a damp, dusty or fume-heavy garage.

The CAMAX24 is designed to circulate air, not extract it. Clarke prohibits using it as an extractor or connecting ducting. The manual also says not to use a solid-state speed controller. Before operating it, observe these safety requirements:

  • Use only with the specified 230 V, 50 Hz supply; if you are in a market with a different electrical supply, confirm compatibility rather than assuming a plug adapter is enough.
  • Keep the fan away from water, high humidity, water vapour, chemical fumes and dusty environments.
  • Do not connect ducts, use it for extraction or operate it without its guards.
  • Unplug it before moving, cleaning or carrying out maintenance.
  • Have repairs performed by a suitably qualified person.

How does it compare with the CAMAX30 and CAMAX36?

Clarke’s manual lists higher maximum airflow for both larger models, alongside greater weight. The manual figures are:

K Tool International 2 Pack Drum Fan 24 Inch Direct Drive Industrial Tilting
  • 2 PACK 24" Direct Drive Industrial Tilting Drum Fan
  • Includes: (1) KTI77741 (Black) and (1) KTI77740 (Yellow)
  • 1/2 HP energy-efficient motor
  • 2 Speeds: 7850 CFM (High), 5,250 CFM (Low)
  • 3-blade aluminum design provides even airflow for quiet operation
Model Maximum airflow Weight Dimensions
CAMAX24 274 m³/min 23.5 kg 740 × 280 × 755 mm
CAMAX30 401 m³/min 34.2 kg Not stated in the cited Clarke manual
CAMAX36 455 m³/min 40.7 kg Not stated in the cited Clarke manual

These are manufacturer specifications, not comparative test results. Maximum airflow does not establish delivery at a given distance or performance in a particular room. The CAMAX24 is the lightest of these three models, while the CAMAX30 and CAMAX36 are heavier options with higher published maximum airflow. The available manual does not provide dimensions for those two comparison models, so their physical footprint cannot be compared here.

Is the Clarke CAMAX24 worth buying?

The CAMAX24 is worth considering if you need a large indoor drum fan, can accommodate a 23.5 kg unit and want the flexibility of two speeds and a broad tilt range. Its published 274 m³/min maximum airflow is the key specification, but it is not a guarantee of airflow at your position or a substitute for measurements in your space.

Evidence for a stronger performance verdict is limited. The matching Visordown review by Phil West, dated 8 October 2026, is labelled “Sponsored By” Machine Mart. It reports a £209.99 price and Machine Mart availability on that date, repeats manufacturer specifications and gives a favorable assessment, but does not describe an independent test method or report reviewer measurements. Treat the price and stock as historical, and the positive assessment as sponsored editorial content rather than controlled test evidence. Check the retailer for current availability and pricing.
