To host Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite, download the separate CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip server pack for Minecraft 1.19.2 and Forge, run it with Java 17, begin with about 6 GB of RAM, accept the EULA, and forward TCP port 25565. Every player must install the identical pack release. The first launch can take several minutes while Forge registers mods, so wait for the console’s Done message before troubleshooting.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
What you are installing
Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite is a performance-oriented medieval fantasy adventure pack by franciscogolden. The current release identified for this guide is Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG [Lite]-16f for Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge, dated July 18, 2025. The CurseForge listing showed 587,371 downloads when accessed in 2026; that figure indicates project activity, not the number of players a server can support.

There are two different downloads with similar names. The ordinary release is the client pack. The dedicated server file is listed separately as CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip. Use the server file for the machine that runs the world. It contains the mod JARs, configuration files, and startup material needed by a dedicated server. Installing the client ZIP on a server is a common cause of missing files and failed starts.
What the server does and does not need
- The server needs Minecraft 1.19.2, the matching Forge loader, the server-pack mods, their configurations, Java 17, and enough memory for the world and connected players.
- Players need the matching client release on their own computers. They do not connect with an unmodded Minecraft installation.
- Client-only shaders, HUD overlays, and texture modifications belong on players’ computers. Do not copy those into the dedicated server’s
modsdirectory.
Choose a hosting approach
Self-hosting gives you control over files, Java arguments, backups, firewall rules, and updates, but you must supply a reliable computer and network connection. Managed hosting moves installation and much of the networking into a control panel, usually in exchange for a recurring charge and less control over the underlying machine.
#1 Best Overall
| Consideration | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Full access to files, JVM arguments, Forge, scripts, and operating-system settings. | Panel permissions and host policies determine which files, settings, and Java builds you can change. |
| Initial effort | Install Java and Forge, unpack the server, accept the EULA, configure the firewall, and arrange backups. | Often a one-click or guided pack deployment, with the host installing Java and Forge. |
| Recurring cost | No hosting subscription, but electricity, bandwidth, storage, and hardware are your responsibility. | Monthly hosting cost; the exact price depends on the plan and location and is not stated here. |
| Scaling RAM | Limited by the physical or virtual machine you own. | Usually selectable in a plan or upgrade path; confirm CPU limits and upgrade rules. |
| Backups and migration | You design and test your own backup and restore process. | Ask whether backups are automatic, how long they are retained, and whether world files can be downloaded. |
| Support | You diagnose Java, Forge, networking, and mod errors yourself. | Support may help with panel or host issues, but mod-specific troubleshooting still depends on the pack and logs. |
| Network location | Your home upload speed, latency, public IP, and port-forwarding policy determine access. | The provider’s data-center location affects latency; select a region close to most players. |
For a small private group, self-hosting is practical when you can leave the machine running and configure the router. Managed hosting is useful when you need a public address, a control panel, scheduled backups, or a host to handle the initial loader installation.
Requirements before you begin
- A computer or hosted instance that can remain online while people play.
- Java 17 installed and available on the command line.
- The dedicated
CARPG Lite v16f serv.zipfile for the release you intend to run. - A writable server directory with several gigabytes of free disk space. The provider-reported server-pack download is about 597 MB, before the world, logs, backups, and generated region files grow.
- Permission to open TCP port 25565 on the host firewall and, for home hosting, forward that port on the router.
- A backup destination separate from the live server directory.
Keep the server and client release names visible while setting up. Pinning one release prevents an automatic client update from making the group incompatible with the server.

Manual installation, step by step
1. Download and unpack the dedicated server pack
- Open the pack’s CurseForge project page and choose the server-pack file,
CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip, rather than the ordinary client download. - Create a new, short path for the server, such as a dedicated
cisco-serverdirectory. Avoid placing it inside a cloud-synchronized folder that may lock or partially upload files while the server is running. - Extract the ZIP directly into that directory. Confirm that the mod JARs, configuration folders, and startup files are present. If you see only a client profile or launcher metadata, you downloaded the wrong archive.
2. Verify Java 17
Open a terminal or command prompt in the server directory and run:
java -version
The output must identify Java 17. A newer or older Java runtime can produce loader errors, class-version messages, or an immediate exit. If the command is not recognized, install a Java 17 distribution, reopen the terminal, and run the check again. On systems with multiple Java installations, make sure the java command resolves to the Java 17 executable that the server will use.
3. Install Forge if the pack does not already include it
Some server archives contain a ready-to-run Forge installation; others include an installer. If the extracted files do not include an installed loader, place the Forge installer that matches Minecraft 1.19.2 in the server directory and run:
java -jar forge-installer.jar --installServer
Use the exact installer filename supplied with your download if it differs from forge-installer.jar. Do not substitute a Forge build for another Minecraft version. A successful installation creates the Forge libraries and launch files required by the pack.

4. Complete the first launch and accept the EULA
- Start the server using the supplied startup script or the Forge launch command included in the pack. The first run normally creates files and may stop because the Minecraft EULA has not been accepted.
- Open the generated
eula.txtfile in a text editor. - Change the line
eula=falsetoeula=true, save the file, and close the editor. - Start the server again with the same script or command.
Accepting the EULA is a required confirmation that you agree to Minecraft’s terms; it is not a substitute for installing the correct pack or loader.
5. Set the memory allocation
Begin with approximately 6 GB of heap memory for a small group. In packs that use user_jvm_args.txt, set or add:
-Xmx6G
If the supplied startup script stores JVM arguments elsewhere, put the option in that script’s JVM-argument section instead. Do not add several conflicting -Xmx values. The setting reserves a maximum heap; it does not guarantee that the operating system, Java, Forge, and other services have enough memory. A machine assigned 6 GB to Java needs additional physical RAM for the operating system and disk cache.
6. Start and wait for the completion message
Run the server a second time after accepting the EULA. Forge registers the mods, generates configurations, and may create the initial world. That first boot can take several minutes. Leave the process alone until the console reports Done. Closing the window or repeatedly restarting during this phase can interrupt configuration generation and create misleading errors on the next launch.

- Allow the server application or Java through the host operating system’s firewall.
- On a home network, sign in to the router and forward TCP port
25565to the local IP address of the server computer. Reserve that local address in the router so it does not change. - Give friends your public IP address or DNS name and the port if you use a non-default port. Players on the same LAN can use the server’s local address.
- Test from outside your home network, such as a friend’s connection or a phone hotspot. A local test alone does not prove that internet forwarding works.
Some internet providers use carrier-grade NAT, which prevents inbound port forwarding. In that case, use a managed host or a networking method that provides an reachable public endpoint rather than changing random firewall settings.
RAM planning and performance expectations
There is no independent benchmark establishing a universal player limit for this pack. The figures below are provider estimates and starting points, not guarantees. Actual use changes with world-generation activity, view distance, entity counts, automation, Java overhead, and other services sharing the machine.

| Expected use | Published starting estimate | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| One player | 4 GB, estimated by FadeHost | A minimum-oriented starting point for a lightly loaded private world. |
| Two to four friends | 6 GB, estimated by FadeHost; also the recommended starting point from Game Host Bros | The practical baseline for a small group, with headroom still worth monitoring. |
| Five to ten players | 8 GB, estimated by FadeHost; WinterNode recommends 8 GB | More memory helps, but CPU speed, disk performance, and generation load can become the next limits. |
| Public server | 10 GB, estimated by FadeHost | A planning figure, not a promise of capacity; public concurrency and exploration require measurement. |
FadeHost’s 6 GB recommendation is tied to a server pack reported at about 597 MB and expected growth as the world fills. Treat that explanation as a provider estimate rather than a measured performance test. Watch the console and operating-system memory usage during exploration, teleporting, and peak attendance. Increase the heap only when the machine has spare physical RAM; allocating too much can cause operating-system swapping and worse latency.
Making sure friends can join
Install the same release
Every player should install the client pack corresponding to the server’s exact release, including the same Minecraft and Forge versions. For this guide that means the 1.19.2 Forge pack matching the server’s v16f files. A player using a different release may be refused during the handshake, disconnect after joining, or see missing items and blocks.

Keep client-only additions separate
Shaders, HUD enhancements, and texture packs that are intended only for rendering should remain on the player’s computer. Adding them to the dedicated server can cause startup failures or server-side class errors. If a mod’s documentation does not clearly say it is server-safe, leave it out of the server’s mods directory and test it on a client first.
Give players the correct address
For a self-hosted internet server, provide the public address and TCP port 25565. For a managed server, use the address and port shown in the provider panel. Players on the same home network should use the server computer’s private address rather than the public address when the router does not support NAT loopback.

A host’s one-click installer reduces setup work, but it does not remove the need to pin the same pack version on every client or to keep your own backup.
Backups and safe updates
Back up before changing the pack
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world directory, configuration files, and server-pack metadata to a separate drive or storage account, and label the backup with the pack version and date. A backup made while region files are actively changing may be incomplete, so do not simply copy files while the process is writing.
Update as a coordinated change
- Record the current pack, Forge, Java, and server configuration versions.
- Notify every player and have them stop joining the old server.
- Make and test a restorable backup.
- Install the new server pack in a separate directory when possible, or preserve the old directory before replacing files.
- Update every client to the same release before opening the server to the group.
- Watch the first boot for errors and wait for
Donebefore allowing normal play.
Keeping the old server directory makes rollback substantially easier if a mod update changes world data or causes a startup failure.
Troubleshooting startup and connection failures
The server exits immediately
- Run
java -versionand verify Java 17. - Confirm that the Forge installer and pack target Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Check that you used
CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip, not the client ZIP. - Read the first error in the console or latest log rather than the final cascade of secondary errors.
- Remove client-only shaders, HUD, and texture-related mods from the server’s
modsfolder.
The first launch appears frozen
Do not assume failure merely because there is no immediate world. Mod registration and configuration generation can take several minutes. Wait for Done and monitor CPU, disk, and log activity. Repeatedly killing and restarting the process can interrupt generation and make the next launch look worse.

Players are rejected or see missing content
Compare the full pack release, Minecraft version, Forge version, and mod files on the server and each client. Pin all participants to the same release. A client-only visual mod should not be copied to the server as a fix; remove it from the server and test the client separately.
The server runs out of memory or lags while exploring
Start with the appropriate estimate in the RAM table, then observe usage during the activity that causes trouble. Add memory only if the machine has additional physical RAM. If memory is adequate, investigate CPU saturation, disk speed, view distance, and the cost of generating new terrain. A larger -Xmx value cannot compensate for a CPU or storage bottleneck.
Quick Recap
Friends cannot connect from the internet
- Confirm the server is listening on TCP 25565 and that the operating-system firewall allows it.
- Verify the router forwards TCP 25565 to the server computer’s current private IP address.
- Check whether the internet provider places the connection behind carrier-grade NAT.
- Test from outside the home network; a successful local connection does not verify public routing.
- For a managed host, use the panel’s assigned address and port rather than assuming the default.
