Chrome Security Tools: What Hackers Arise’s Browser Console Claims to Do

Hackers Arise describes installing an IWA tools console in Chrome and using it to run a bundle of security-assessment tools. Its setup and compatibility are not independently verified, so treat the steps below as that article’s account—not as confirmed guidance for current Chrome versions.

What the Chrome tools console is said to be

In an article dated October 6, 2026, Hackers Arise describes a console installed as an Isolated Web App (IWA), with a bundle of tools intended for security assessments. The article names NXC, SharpHound, LDAP-shell and Evil-WinRM in its introduction, then uses Certipy in an example. It claims the bundle contains nine tools, but the available article text does not identify all nine; there is not enough information to give a complete inventory.

The article frames its examples as Windows-lab demonstrations. They cover port scanning, a WinRM connection, Active Directory DNS zone enumeration and searching for Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) issues. Those examples do not establish that the same commands work on other systems, nor do brief result descriptions prove a vulnerability or guaranteed privilege escalation.

How the article describes installing it

Hackers Arise says the installation uses Chrome flags and an update manifest. The article notes that a recent Chrome update moved the relevant location from web-app-internals to web-dev. Neither the current Chrome interface nor the continued availability of this flow has been independently confirmed.

  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
  • TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
  • BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
  1. Enable the flags. The article instructs readers to enable Chrome flags, but the available text does not specify the flag names or values. Do not guess at them.
  2. Relaunch Chrome. The article says to relaunch after changing the flags.
  3. Open web-dev. This is the location the article says to use, replacing web-app-internals after a Chrome update.
  4. Install the IWA. The article provides this update manifest: https://iwa-tools.pkilla.pw/iwa/update.json. It says Chrome fetches a version and installs the console, which then appears in apps.

The manifest’s provenance and signing details were not checked, and the article’s installation source should not be treated as verified or endorsed by Chrome. Installing software from an unverified source can expose the browser and its data to risk. Do not proceed unless you can independently establish that the source is trustworthy and the activity is permitted in your environment.

What the example commands demonstrate

The article says a general help command lists available commands and that command-specific help provides more detail. Its examples are presented in a lab context; the available text does not provide enough verified command syntax or output to reproduce them reliably.

Yubico - YubiKey 5 NFC - Multi-Factor authentication (MFA) Security Key and passkey, Connect via USB-A or NFC, FIDO Certified - Protect Your Online Accounts
  • POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The YubiKey 5 NFC is the most versatile physical passkey, protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts
  • WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with popular accounts like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single YubiKey 5 NFC secures 100+ of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more
  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5 NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
  • MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
  • PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts
  • Port scanning: The article describes scanning ports on a Windows lab host. A scan reports reachable services from a particular network vantage point; by itself, it does not establish that a service is vulnerable.
  • WinRM: An Evil-WinRM example attempts a connection using credentials. Use credentials only for systems you are explicitly authorized to assess.
  • Active Directory DNS: An adidns example lists DNS zones. Its described result is specific to the lab setup and is not evidence that zones will be exposed in other environments.
  • AD CS: A Certipy example searches for certificate-services issues. A finding requires interpretation against the directory configuration and applicable permissions; the example does not guarantee exploitation or escalation.

Safety and practical limits

Hackers Arise explicitly warns readers not to use the tools against systems without authorization and not to use a daily Chrome browser for this work. Keep any assessment in a controlled lab or an expressly approved environment, and use a separate browser profile or machine only when your organization’s rules permit it. The article does not establish platform support, a supported Chrome version, project provenance, or parity with conventional Linux or WSL workflows.

Because the installation instructions and bundle could not be independently confirmed, do not rely on them for operational work without checking the source, current Chrome behavior and the tool documentation through trusted channels. The article also mentions Hackers Arise’s Red Team Operator training program as a possible next step; its current availability and terms are not verified.
