Google announced Chrome 155 Stable on October 6, 2026, reporting 247 security fixes. Update Chrome as soon as the release reaches your device, then restart the browser if prompted. The rollout is staged, so the new version may not appear immediately on every platform.
What Chrome 155 fixes
Google’s Chrome Releases listing reports 247 security fixes in Chrome 155. “Security fixes” is Google’s wording; the headline’s “vulnerabilities” is a shorthand, not a claim that the release note provides a full public technical account of all 247 issues.

The listing identifies four critical use-after-free issues:

Google also lists high-severity issues in components including Site Isolation, ANGLE, Autofill, Translate, Fonts, Proxy, Omnibox, WebGL, Dawn, Video, V8, WebRTC, Media, and PDF. These labels and component descriptions do not establish that every issue is exploitable remotely or in the same way.

Google may restrict issue details and links until most users have received the fix, or while a third-party library used by other projects remains unpatched. The public release notes therefore do not necessarily describe all 247 fixes in equal detail.

How do I update Chrome?
- Open Chrome and select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Help, then About Google Chrome. Chrome checks for updates on this page.
- If an update is available, let it download and install. Select Relaunch when prompted so the update takes effect.
If Chrome says it is up to date but your version is still older than the build listed for your platform, the staged rollout may not have reached you yet. Check again later. On Android, check for Chrome updates in Google Play.

No. The Chrome Security team advises users to apply updates as they become available rather than deciding based on public descriptions of individual flaws. Its Chrome Security Update FAQ says: “The most secure option is to automatically update Chrome as soon as any update is available, independent of the specific details of any security fixes included in the update.”

In a September 8, 2026 Chrome for Developers post, Google said security fixes continue to be backported on a regular weekly schedule for Extended Stable, while major feature updates arrive every eight weeks. The Chrome Security Update FAQ describes the general Stable cadence as milestones every two weeks, with planned weekly security refreshes. Organizations using Extended Stable should follow their managed rollout process and confirm the applicable build for their channel.

Why Chrome updates are frequent
Google describes its security process as finding, triaging, fixing, releasing, and applying a fix when Chrome restarts. The Chrome Security team reported that 1,072 security bugs were fixed across Chrome 149 and 150 combined in a July 30, 2026 article; that figure applies to those two earlier milestones, not Chrome 155. Regular security releases and occasional unscheduled updates are part of Chrome’s update process, not evidence that every release has the same number or severity of flaws.
