TV-side screws must match the television’s threaded holes and required length; separate wall fasteners attach the mount plate to the wall.
What screws and hardware might come in the box?
A mount package may include TV-side screws, washers and spacers, plus lag screws or other hardware for attaching the wall plate. Some kits include alternatives for different TVs or wall types, and not every item will be used. The ECHOGEAR EGLL manual explicitly notes that not all hardware in its kit is required for every installation. Check the parts list for your exact model rather than assuming all mounts include the same hardware.

Which screws do you need for your TV?
The TV determines the correct TV-side screw diameter and length; the mount’s parts list alone is not enough to identify the right choice. The ECHOGEAR EGLL manual lists M4, M6 and M8 alternatives and says only one screw size fits a given TV. Consult both the TV’s official mounting instructions and the mount manual to identify the required size.
Length matters as much as diameter
A screw that is too short may not hold securely, while one that is too long can damage the TV. The EGLL manual warns, “Too short will not hold your TV. Too long will damage your TV.” Do not choose by appearance or force a screw that resists. Follow the instructions for the complete assembly—screw, washer, any spacer and bracket—so the screw engages properly without bottoming out or pressing too far into the television. Check whether spacers are needed
TV backs can be flat, rounded or recessed, and cables may interfere with the bracket. The EGLL manual shows spacer arrangements for rounded backs, inset holes or cable clearance, as well as a no-spacer setup for a flat back where the bracket sits flush. Use only the arrangement specified for your TV and mount; adding a spacer or choosing a longer screw by guesswork can change how far the screw reaches.
TV screws and wall fasteners do different jobs
- TV-side screws attach the mount’s brackets to the threaded holes on the back of the television.
- Wall-side fasteners attach the mount’s wall plate to the wall. Depending on the mount and installation, these may be lag screws or other specified anchors.
Do not mistake one set for the other. Follow the mount instructions for your wall construction and specified wall hardware; package contents differ, as the EGLL1, EGLL4 and EGMF2 examples show.

How to check fit safely before mounting
- Find the TV’s model number and consult its official mounting instructions. Also identify the exact model or SKU of your mount and use its manual and included-parts list.
- Confirm the TV-side screw diameter and length specified for your television and bracket arrangement. Do not assume every screw in an assorted kit is suitable.
- Check whether the TV back is flat, rounded or recessed, and whether cables obstruct the bracket. Follow the manuals’ spacer guidance for that configuration.
- Assemble the screw, washer, spacer and bracket as instructed. Confirm the screw engages as specified without bottoming out or pressing too deeply into the TV; stop if it resists or appears too long.
- Separately verify the wall fasteners and installation method against the mount instructions and your wall type.
If supplied hardware is missing, damaged or inconsistent with the manuals, pause installation and ask the TV or mount manufacturer for model-specific replacement guidance.

Before choosing, compare the TV’s VESA hole pattern and weight with the mount’s supported pattern and rating. Also check the specified wall hardware, whether the mount is fixed, tilting or full-motion, and the actual TV-side screw sizes listed for that model. For example, the EGMF2 page lists VESA patterns from 100 × 100 through 400 × 400 in specified combinations and a 60 lb rating; the EGLL4 page lists 100 × 100 to 600 × 400 and a 150 lb rating. Those are manufacturer specifications for those models, not general limits for mounts of the same type. Check current documentation for the TV and mount you plan to use.
