The best Softr alternative depends on what you are building: choose Glide for a spreadsheet-led, mobile-friendly app; Noloco for a client portal with many external users; Bubble for a custom software product; Airtable Interface Designer for shared views over an existing Airtable base; or Retool for developer-built internal tools. Stacker may suit teams exploring AI agents alongside customer portals. Before choosing, check data connections, permissions, user limits, publishing options, and who will maintain the app.
Start with the job your app needs to do
Softr is aimed at nontechnical teams building client portals, internal tools, and CRMs on top of existing business data. Alternatives make different trade-offs: some are better suited to spreadsheet-based apps, others to custom software or developer-controlled internal tools. There is no single best replacement for every use case.

- Portal or internal tool on existing data: Compare how each builder connects to your data and controls what different users can see.
- Spreadsheet-led app with a mobile-friendly experience: Look at Glide, while checking which Glide product and subscription applies.
- Standalone product such as a SaaS app or marketplace: Consider Bubble if you need more control over interface, data, and logic.
- Shared views over one Airtable base: Airtable Interface Designer may be enough if the app does not need a more complex portal or several data sources.
- Developer-built internal tool: Retool is a candidate when SQL, JavaScript, or self-hosting matter.
Which Softr alternative fits each use case?
Glide for spreadsheet-led, mobile-friendly apps
Glide is worth considering when the app is centered on spreadsheet data and a mobile-friendly experience is important. Distinguish between Glide Classic, the original no-code builder, and GlideOS, an AI builder introduced in 2026: they have separate subscriptions, so confirm the exact product and plan before comparing costs. The Softr comparison also flags data-source restrictions and usage charges as factors to assess for projects that depend on multiple sources or frequent syncing.
Noloco for portals with many external users
Noloco is described as close to Softr in purpose and may fit a client portal with a large external-user population. An October 2026 comparison lists 1,000 client users on its paid Build plan. Treat that as a time-sensitive plan detail and verify it directly before relying on it. The same comparison notes that the free plan has data-source limits and that certain advanced needs may require an enterprise plan.

Bubble for a custom software product
Bubble is a stronger candidate when the app itself is the product—for example, a custom SaaS service or marketplace—or when you need detailed control over design, data, and logic. Bubble’s July 2026 comparison says Softr is faster for business portals and internal tools built on existing data. That is Bubble’s own characterization, not an independent speed test.
That comparison described Bubble’s native mobile builder as being in public beta in July 2026. If native iOS or Android publishing is essential, check Bubble’s current availability and release status rather than treating that dated description as current.
Airtable Interface Designer for views over one Airtable base
If your team already works in Airtable and needs simple shared views over a single base, Interface Designer may avoid adding another app platform. The Softr comparison describes it as a less natural fit for client portals or apps that combine multiple data sources. Make sure the interface can support the access and workflow your users need before settling on it.

The comparison highlights Stacker for teams interested in combining AI agents with customer portals, and identifies white-label portals and integrations as differentiators. Its emphasis differs from that of a dedicated app or portal builder, so assess it against the actual workflows and user experience your project requires.
Rank #3
Retool for developer-built internal tools
Retool is a candidate when developers are building internal tools and need SQL and JavaScript control or self-hosting. It is less naturally suited to a nontechnical team looking for a portal builder, so include the people who will build and maintain the app in your decision.
What to check before you commit
Data sources and synchronization
List where the app’s data lives and identify whether users need changes to appear immediately or whether periodic updates are acceptable. Check that the platform supports every required source and the sync behavior your workflows depend on. A good-looking interface is not a fit if its connectors or update limits cannot support the app.

External users and record-level permissions
Estimate how many clients, partners, and staff members will use the app, then map which records each group may view or change. Test realistic cases: one client must not see another client’s records, and staff access may need to differ from customer access. Plan limits on external users and record-level visibility can vary sharply between free and paid tiers.
Design, logic, and ongoing ownership
Decide how much control you need over the interface and app behavior, and who will handle changes after launch. A builder offering more flexibility may also demand more setup and maintenance. Choose for the team that will actually operate the app, not just for the person creating the first version.
Best Value
Mobile publishing and release status
Clarify whether a mobile-friendly web experience is sufficient or whether you specifically need native iOS and Android apps. Confirm platform availability and release status with the vendor; a beta feature may not meet a production requirement.
Total cost at your expected scale
Compare plans using your expected number of users, data sources, sync frequency, and workload. Check included seats or client users, update quotas, and usage-based billing. A low entry price may not reflect the cost once your app has more users or heavier syncing. Pricing and plan inclusions change, so verify them on the vendor’s current plan pages before deciding.

- Write down the app type. Choose whether it is a portal or internal tool on existing data, a spreadsheet-led mobile app, a shared Airtable interface, or a standalone software product.
- Inventory the data. Name every required source and decide what synchronization behavior users need.
- Map access. Estimate staff and external users, then describe which records and actions each group should have.
- Set the ownership boundary. Decide whether nontechnical staff must manage the app or whether developers will own its logic, integrations, and maintenance.
- Test a representative workflow. Use realistic data and user roles to check permissions, updates, and the experience on the devices people will use.
- Recheck plan details. Confirm current prices, user allowances, data-source limits, sync or update quotas, and any usage charges before selecting a plan.
Bottom line
Choose by app shape, not by a universal ranking: Glide for spreadsheet-centered mobile experiences, Noloco for a portal with many outside users, Bubble for a more custom product, Airtable Interface Designer for a simple Airtable-based interface, and Retool for developer-led internal tools. Evaluate Stacker when its AI-agent and portal emphasis matches your needs. In every case, validate the data connections, permissions, publishing requirements, and plan limits against a realistic version of your app.
