Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallA $500 limit leaves few well-supported new mirrorless choices, and the price depends on whether you mean a camera body or a complete kit with a lens. Canon’s EOS R100 is a potential entry-level option, but its U.S. kit listing was $549.99 and marked unavailable when checked on October 7, 2026—not a verified under-$500 deal. Used cameras can widen the field, but current prices for five specific models have not been established here, so a ranked top-five list would be misleading.
What can you buy for under $500?
First decide whether your $500 ceiling applies to the body alone or to a working camera-and-lens kit. A body-only price may leave you needing to buy a lens separately; a kit price includes a lens, but you should still check what else is in the box. For a used camera, compare the full cost of a usable setup rather than the body price in isolation.

The budget is restrictive for new mirrorless cameras. Used gear may offer more choice, but prices and condition vary by listing. Without current, verified offers for five models, it is not possible to responsibly name five cameras as the best under-$500 buys or rank them.

The EOS R100 is an entry-level mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera with an APS-C sensor and Canon’s RF mount. It may suit a beginner seeking an interchangeable-lens camera, provided the actual offer fits the budget and its handling and video limits meet the buyer’s needs.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Specifications and kit contents
Canon lists a 24.1-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC 8 processor, Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus and continuous shooting up to 6.5 frames per second. Its RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM kit pairs the camera with a lens, so its kit price should not be compared as if it were body-only.
Canon’s listed video modes include cropped 4K recording up to 24 frames per second and Full HD recording up to 60 frames per second. These limits matter if you expect to record 4K without a crop or need more advanced video options. Digital Camera World’s specification summary describes a fixed, non-touch screen; that makes the R100 a less obvious choice for users who specifically want a touch-operated or articulating display.

Price and availability
Canon’s U.S. product page for the RF-S 18-45mm kit showed $549.99, with a regular price of $679.99, and said the kit was no longer available when checked on October 7, 2026. The page also showed promotion details for a September 2026 window, which had passed by that date. This is a dated listing snapshot, not a current offer or evidence that the kit is under $500. Check the live price and availability before buying.
Lens compatibility and upgrade costs
The R100 accepts Canon RF and RF-S lenses directly. EF and EF-S lenses require an EF-EOS R adapter, which adds to the cost of building a kit; EF-M lenses are not compatible. If you already own lenses, check the mount and any adapter requirement before treating the camera body price as your total budget.

- Need a complete kit under $500: Compare the lens-included price, not just the camera body price, and verify what accessories are included.
- Open to used gear: Search current listings and weigh condition, included equipment, return terms and total working-kit cost. Do not assume a particular model is available at a particular price without checking listings.
