Choose the Right Resume Website: 16 Builders and Tools for 2026

Compare 16 resume websites by what they actually help you do: build a document, improve an existing resume, organize a job search, or publish a portfolio.

The best resume website depends on what you need to make: a clean downloadable document, help improving an existing resume, a job-search workspace, or a hosted portfolio. These 16 options cover those different jobs; none is established as a universal winner or as a way to guarantee interviews.

How to choose a resume website

Start with the finished product you need. A resume builder creates a document; a resume scorer reviews material you already have; a job platform may let you build a profile and apply within its own system; and a site builder helps you publish a resume or portfolio online. Some services overlap, but they are not interchangeable.

  • For conventional online applications: favor a plainly structured document that is easy to read and export in the format an employer requests. A template described as ATS-friendly is not a guarantee that it will pass every employer’s system.
  • For a portfolio or direct sharing: visual design and a hosted page may matter more than a document export.
  • For writing support: treat prompts, scoring, and AI rewrites as suggestions. Check every statement against your actual experience; do not use invented achievements, credentials, skills, or metrics.
  • Before paying: confirm what the free tier can download, which file formats are included, whether a trial renews automatically, the billing interval, and how cancellation works. These terms can change, so check the current offer and checkout details.

WIRED’s February 10, 2026 review named Resume.io its pick for most people, FlowCV its free-builder pick, Zety its ease-of-use pick, and Rezi its choice for improving an existing resume. Those are recommendations tied to particular needs, not evidence that one service improves hiring outcomes.

16 resume websites and tools to consider

1. Resume.io — a guided document builder

Consider Resume.io if you want a structured editor with writing assistance and job-specific tailoring features. WIRED’s February 2026 review reported that free downloads were text-only and PDF access required a paid plan. If a polished PDF is essential, verify the current export limits and cost before building your final version.

2. FlowCV — a free-first builder

FlowCV is a strong starting point if you want to create and download a resume and cover letter without paying, according to WIRED’s review. The reviewer also described flexible, section-based layout controls and job tracking. Check the current account and export terms, and make sure the finished layout remains clear in the file you submit.

3. Zety — guided editing for beginners

Zety offers guided sections, writing tips, and AI suggestions, which can help if you are unsure how to organize a first draft. WIRED reported that the free download was text-only and that paid access was needed for PDF output. Its reviewer also found an AI suggestion that introduced an award absent from the source resume. Verify every generated claim and inspect trial renewal terms before signing up.

4. Rezi — feedback on an existing resume

Rezi is aimed at people who already have resume material and want line-by-line feedback, rewriting, or job-specific tailoring. WIRED described its templates as oriented toward applicant tracking systems. That orientation is not a promise of compatibility with every employer’s software; review any suggested edits for accuracy and keep the document structure straightforward.

5. Teal — resume editing alongside job-search tools

Teal combines resume-building features with a broader job-search workflow. WIRED’s roundup also noted offer and compensation tools. It may suit someone who wants application organization alongside resume work rather than a standalone design canvas. Check which features are available on the current free and paid tiers.

6. Kickresume — writing tools and a web-page option

Kickresume is described in the reviewed roundups as offering AI writing help, cover-letter tools, and a way to turn a resume into a webpage. That combination may appeal if you want both a document and a shareable online version. The feature descriptions come from roundups rather than a uniform independent test, so confirm current capabilities and export options with the service.

7. Enhancv — customizable, modern layouts

Enhancv appears in several reviewed lists as a customizable option with modern designs and resume feedback or scoring features. It may fit applicants who want more visual control than a basic form-driven builder. For standard application portals, prioritize readability and a simple structure over decorative elements.

8. Canva — visual design control

Canva is a general design tool with drag-and-drop resume templates, useful when visual control is the priority. WIRED cautions that complex layouts may be a poor fit for conventional applications. A clean, restrained design is safer when an employer requires an uploaded resume; use a more expressive layout for a portfolio or direct presentation only when appropriate.

9. Indeed Resume Builder — a resume profile within a job platform

Indeed’s resume feature is part of a job platform and can be useful if you intend to apply through Indeed. WIRED describes it as less of a full-design tool than a dedicated document builder. If you need precise control over typography, layout, or versions, create the document elsewhere and upload it where the application allows.

10. Wix — a hosted resume or portfolio site

Wix is better suited to publishing a hosted resume or portfolio than to making only a downloadable document. Its own roundup describes customizable templates, portfolio pages, domain options, and site-building tools. Choose this route when you want a shareable web presence; confirm what is included in the plan you choose, especially if you want a custom domain.

11. Wixel — template-oriented document creation

Wixel, associated with Wix, is presented in Wix’s roundup as a template-based document workflow with customization and PDF output. It may suit someone who wants a designed document without building a full website. Because the description comes from a vendor roundup, check the current editor, export options, and account requirements directly.

12. Resume Worded — reviewing material you already have

Resume Worded is described by Wix as a resume-scoring and LinkedIn-improvement tool. It is more appropriate for reviewing existing material than for starting from a blank page. Treat a score as feedback rather than a hiring prediction, and accept only recommendations that accurately reflect your background.

13. Resume.com — a straightforward builder with job applications

Wix’s roundup describes Resume.com as a free, no-fuss builder with in-platform job applications; another reviewed comparison describes a step-by-step editor. It may suit someone who wants a basic guided workflow tied to applications. Verify the current export format, account requirements, and available features before relying on it for a final submission.

14. VisualCV — versions and online sharing

Resume.io’s roundup describes VisualCV as supporting resume creation, online sharing, multiple versions, and view analytics. Those details come from a vendor-authored comparison, not a consistent independent feature test. If sharing and tracking views are important, confirm that the current service provides the specific controls you need.

15. Novoresume — section guidance and writing tips

Novoresume is included in the reviewed comparisons, with Resume.io’s roundup describing writing tips and customizable sections. It may be useful if you want a guided layout that you can adapt. Current free limits and export formats are not established consistently across the comparisons, so check those details before entering substantial information.

16. MyPerfectResume — templates and content prompts

Zety’s and Venngage’s roundups list MyPerfectResume as a template- and content-suggestion-focused builder. It may help when you want prompts to shape a draft, but suggestions still need to be accurate and specific to your own history. Confirm whether downloading a usable file requires payment and review subscription terms before starting a trial.

Free resume builders: check the download, not just the editor

A site can let you create a resume for free while charging for the file you actually need. In WIRED’s February 2026 review, Resume.io and Zety allowed resume creation but limited free downloads to text; PDF or Word files required paid access. Zety’s own comparison similarly described TXT downloads on its basic tier and PDF, Word, and TXT on Pro. Its page described a paid trial that renewed every four weeks at the price displayed there; that is a dated snapshot, not a promise of today’s terms.

Before investing time in a builder, look for the export step and confirm that the free plan produces a usable file. If a trial is involved, note the renewal date and billing cadence and find the cancellation method before submitting payment details.

When a plain resume is the better choice

You do not need a paid builder to make a strong resume. WIRED reviewer Jacob Roach wrote, “You don’t need to pay for a résumé builder.” A free template or a clean document made in a word processor can be enough for many roles. A paid service is more defensible when a feature you will actually use—such as structured guidance, tailored versions, or job tracking—saves meaningful effort.

For applications submitted through employer portals, clear headings and a simple reading order are prudent. A visually elaborate design may be more appropriate for direct sharing or a portfolio than for a system that parses uploaded documents. No reviewed source establishes that a particular builder guarantees ATS passage, interviews, or better hiring outcomes.

Pick by task, then test the output

  • Choose FlowCV as a starting point if free creation and downloads are your priority, based on WIRED’s review.
  • Consider Resume.io or Zety if guided editing is more important than avoiding paid PDF exports; check current plan terms first.
  • Try Rezi or Resume Worded when you want feedback on an existing resume rather than only a blank-page builder.
  • Look at Teal if you want resume work connected to job-search organization, or Indeed if you mainly apply within its platform.
  • Choose Canva for visual control or Wix for a hosted portfolio when the presentation context supports it.

Whichever tool you use, export a final copy and inspect it before applying: check that headings, dates, bullets, and contact details appear as intended, and keep the claims truthful. A builder can help with structure and workflow, but the evidence reviewed does not establish a hiring-outcome winner.
