A physical keyboard can make searches, passwords, and other text entry easier on a smart TV—but no keyboard is guaranteed to work with every TV or app. Five models have manufacturer-documented paths to consider: Logitech K600 TV, K400/K400 Plus, K360, K750, and LG MKS-1200. The K600 has profiles for several TV platforms; the other four appear on LG’s compatibility list. Check your exact TV model and intended app before buying.
Check compatibility before choosing a keyboard
Smart TV keyboard support depends on the television’s model, platform, connection type, and the app you want to use. A USB port alone does not establish that a TV will accept a keyboard, and Bluetooth support for headphones does not necessarily mean it supports Bluetooth keyboards.

- Confirm the exact TV model. Read its manual or model-specific support page for USB HID or Bluetooth keyboard support. Samsung warns that some models do not support keyboard and mouse connections; Sony does not guarantee every accessory.
- Match the connection. A keyboard with a USB receiver needs a compatible USB port and TV support for that receiver. A Bluetooth keyboard needs Bluetooth HID support, not just Bluetooth audio.
- Check the app. A TV may recognize a keyboard while a particular app ignores some or all of its input. LG cautions, “You may not be able to use some apps.”
- Consider pointing control. A built-in touchpad can help with navigation, but the TV or app may not provide a usable pointer.
The options below are conditional candidates, not a universal compatibility ranking. Manufacturer documentation supports them unevenly, and no comparative hands-on performance test is established here.
Five keyboards to consider
Logitech K600 TV: platform profiles for TV use
The K600 TV pairs over Bluetooth and offers profiles for Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Android TV, Windows, and other device types. Logitech’s instructions describe selecting an Easy-Switch key, pairing through the device settings, and choosing the matching function-key profile. This makes it the most explicitly TV-oriented candidate in this group, but its documentation does not establish compatibility with every TV model or app. Follow Logitech’s K600 pairing and profile instructions and confirm that your TV supports Bluetooth keyboards.

Logitech K400 or K400 Plus: keyboard with an integrated touchpad
LG lists the Logitech K400 among compatible keyboard products. The K400 Plus is a wireless keyboard with an integrated touchpad and USB receiver; Logitech primarily positions it for a TV-connected computer. LG’s listing is evidence for its own TV context, not a guarantee for other brands. Check the exact model and USB-receiver support in LG’s keyboard connection guidance and see the K400 Plus product page.
Logitech K360: LG-listed USB candidate
LG includes the K360 in its compatible keyboard list. Treat it as an LG-documented candidate and verify that your specific TV accepts its required USB connection. The listing does not establish compatibility with other TV brands, particular apps, or current product availability. See LG’s compatibility and connection guidance.

LG Electronics MKS-1200: listed by LG
LG includes the MKS-1200 in its compatible keyboard list. That source does not establish current sale status, compatibility with every LG TV, or support outside the LG context. How to connect a keyboard to your smart TV
Use the connection method supported by your exact model. Menu labels and paths vary by TV year, model, and region, so follow the television’s manual if the names below do not match.
Wired USB or USB receiver
- Check the TV manual or model-specific support page to confirm keyboard support and identify a suitable USB port.
- For a wired keyboard, plug it into the TV’s USB port. For a wireless keyboard that uses a USB receiver, plug the receiver into the port; a Bluetooth keyboard cannot use this method unless it also has a receiver.
- Wait for the TV to recognize the device, then test typing in a search field or another app that accepts keyboard input.
LG USA’s June 26, 2026 guidance documents wired USB keyboards and wireless USB-dongle keyboards for supported Smart TV models released after 2012. That guidance is specific to LG’s stated support context. Samsung Australia says most Samsung TVs made before 2018 automatically recognize USB devices, but it also warns that support can vary by model.

Bluetooth
- Confirm that the TV supports Bluetooth keyboard peripherals. Bluetooth audio support alone is not enough.
- Put the keyboard into pairing mode. On the TV, open the Bluetooth device settings using the path specified in its manual and select the keyboard when it appears.
- If the keyboard offers device profiles, choose the one that matches the TV platform, then test the keys in the intended app.
Samsung’s UK guidance says Bluetooth HID peripherals such as keyboards are not supported on some TVs even when Bluetooth audio is. It also says USB Bluetooth transmitter/receivers are not supported. Regional menu steps should not be assumed to apply to every Samsung TV. Sony’s guidance for Google TV and Android TV says compatible devices may be recognized, but some functions may not work as intended.

What Samsung, LG, and Sony document
| TV platform or brand | What the manufacturer says | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | Samsung Australia describes wired USB, wireless USB-receiver, and supported Bluetooth connections. Its page says most Samsung TVs made before 2018 automatically recognize USB devices. Samsung UK distinguishes Bluetooth audio from Bluetooth HID support and says some models do not support keyboard and mouse connections. | Check the exact model and your regional support page. | LG webOS | LG USA’s June 26, 2026 guidance documents wired USB and wireless USB dongle keyboards for supported Smart TV models released after 2012, and lists the K360, K400, K750, and MKS-1200. LG also notes that some models lack Bluetooth and some apps may not work with keyboard input. | Confirm the TV model, connection method, and app. LG notes that screen, distance, and wireless conditions can affect input or wireless performance. | Sony Google TV and Android TV | Sony USA’s support article, modified January 19, 2026, says these platforms can generally recognize most USB keyboards and mice and may recognize many Bluetooth devices. Some functions may not work as intended, and Sony does not guarantee particular accessories. | The guidance applies to Google TV or Android TV, not automatically to every Sony Smart TV. Follow the manual for the specific television. Sony keyboard and mouse support. |
Choose based on what you need to do
- For passwords and searches: Prioritize a keyboard connection your TV explicitly supports; a touchpad is optional if you mainly need text entry.
- For pointer navigation: Consider a model with an integrated touchpad, but confirm that the TV and the app expose pointer control.
- For an LG TV: The four models in LG’s list are evidence-backed candidates, but the list does not replace checking your exact model and app.
- For Samsung or Sony: Verify Bluetooth HID or USB keyboard support on the exact television. A TV-platform profile or general platform support is not a promise that every accessory or app will work.
