Manchester-based AI marketing startup Revnu has reportedly raised $3 million and will build from the city after its 21-year-old founders, George Jefferson and Art Freebrey, returned from Y Combinator in Silicon Valley. They considered San Francisco, where much of their current customer base is based, but chose Manchester, citing the appeal of UK university talent and their own preference for building there.
Why did Revnu’s founders choose Manchester?
Jefferson and Freebrey temporarily relocated to Silicon Valley to take part in Y Combinator, then weighed San Francisco as a possible home for the business. Jefferson said the accelerator gave them a positive view of Silicon Valley, but they concluded San Francisco was not the right place for them to build. He described Manchester as the right base and pointed to talent from UK universities. Those are the founders’ stated reasons, not a general claim that one city is better for startups.
The decision came despite much of Revnu’s customer base being in San Francisco, according to Prolific North’s October 1, 2026 report. The founders’ first hire was moving from London to Manchester, the report added. BusinessCloud’s October 2, 2026 account also reported the founders’ return to Manchester after Y Combinator.
What does Revnu do?
Revnu is described as an AI marketing platform for early-stage businesses. Its agents are intended to help companies find customers, run marketing campaigns and build sales pipelines. The reported channels include LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram.

According to the Prolific North report, users can set campaign budgets, and the system learns a business’s tone and objectives over time and provides performance updates. Jefferson described the approach this way: “It tests every channel, finds what works for that business, scales what wins and gets rid of what doesn’t – all while keeping the founder in the loop.” The report says the platform supports campaign and advertising tests, lead generation and meeting booking.
Revnu was also developing generative engine optimisation features intended to help businesses appear in responses from AI services such as Google AI and ChatGPT. The reporting describes the product’s intended features; it does not provide an independent performance study, campaign results or evidence that the developing capability was generally available.

How much did Revnu raise, and who invested?
Prolific North reported that Revnu raised $3 million in a round led by NPIF II – PXN Equity Finance, managed by PXN Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II. Y Combinator also backed the company. The reporting reviewed here does not include a primary company or investor announcement, so the amount and investor details are reported figures rather than independently audited disclosures.
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II is reported as a £660 million fund covering the North of England. Prolific North says it offers loans from £25,000 to £2 million and equity investment of up to £5 million for smaller businesses. These are fund-level figures, not the amount Revnu received through this round.

What will the funding support?
The investment is intended to help Revnu expand its Manchester team and grow in the UK, the US and other international markets, according to Prolific North. The announcement does not specify a hiring target, spending breakdown or timetable.

What did Jefferson and Freebrey build before Revnu?
The childhood friends met at secondary school and built businesses together while still in education. Their earlier projects included software to automate buying and selling rare vintage clothes and trainers, followed by accounting software for sellers on Vinted.
While they were at university, their businesses were reportedly generating around $15,000 per month. The report does not state the accounting basis or a more precise period for that figure, so it should not be read as profit or as an audited recurring revenue measure. The founders later saw broader potential in AI systems they had used to automate their own work. Prolific North reports that Monzo co-founder Jonas Templestein encouraged them to pursue the opportunity and apply to Y Combinator. They left university for the accelerator, moved temporarily to Silicon Valley and later returned to Manchester.
