Clearly verified low-cost option: GTX Gaming advertises a 20-slot Unturned server for £6.00 per month, including 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage. It also lists Workshop and plugin support, daily backups, DDoS protection and 19 locations. Those are provider claims, not independent uptime, latency or gameplay tests, so “cheapest” should be treated as a plan comparison rather than a worldwide certainty.
Listed first: Godlike.Host
Godlike.Host offers Unturned servers alongside Minecraft and more than 40 other games, with its own game panel, free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day with restore. The panel includes a built-in mod installer and server management tools; see the current plans for the Unturned setup and location that fit your group.

What “cheapest” means for an Unturned server
The lowest headline price is not automatically the lowest suitable price. Your real cost depends on four decisions:
- Concurrent slots: how many players must be able to join at once.
- Memory: the map, Workshop content and plugins can matter more than the slot count.
- Location: a nearby datacenter can reduce network distance, although only a real-world test can establish latency.
- Billing and extras: currency, subscription length, backups, support and upgrades can change the final total.
A two-player private world and a 100-slot modded community are not comparing the same product. The figures below therefore identify the clearest inexpensive offer, then show where a different plan or self-hosting may make more sense.

Verified low-entry managed option
GTX Gaming: 20 slots for £6 per month
GTX Gaming’s advertised entry configuration is £6.00 per month for 20 slots. The plan includes 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage. The provider says each additional slot costs £0.30 per month, and that the plan size and billing can be changed.
| Advertised item | GTX Gaming entry configuration | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | £6.00 | Published monthly price; confirm currency, taxes and checkout total for your location. |
| Player slots | 20 | Concurrent slots, not a guaranteed performance level. |
| Memory | 5GB RAM | Provider allocation and sizing guidance, not an official Unturned requirement. |
| Storage | Up to 100GB NVMe | Included amount stated by the provider. |
| Mods and plugins | Workshop, Rocket (LDM) and OpenMod support advertised | Compatibility and performance depend on the specific content you install. |
| Backups | Daily backups and restore controls advertised | Check retention, restore limits and whether backups are stored separately. |
| Network and protection | 19 locations and DDoS protection advertised | No independent latency or uptime measurement was available. |
| Contract and refund | No contract or setup fee; 24-hour refund guarantee advertised | Read the current terms before paying. |
The provider’s own sizing notes say 5GB is suitable for up to 40 players on official maps, 8GB is suggested for 50 or more players or a large Workshop map with mods, and 12GB is suggested for a full 100-slot server with a large modpack. Treat those as GTX’s recommendations, not universal thresholds. GTX also reports that a fresh demonstration server used about 1GB of RAM with nobody online; that observation is specific to its setup and cannot establish a general Unturned baseline.
Other advertised prices: useful leads, not a confirmed winner
Nitrado
Nitrado’s offer page shows 4-, 10- and 20-slot configurations, a 30-day subscription choice and selectable locations. Nitrado’s rendered offer page did not clearly agree on the 4-slot price. Configure the exact slot count, region and billing period and verify the final amount at checkout before treating it as cheaper than the £6 offer.

Sparked Host and Pingperfect
A September 2026 comparison article reports Sparked Host at $2.50 for a 2GB budget tier and Pingperfect at $5.44 per month for a 10-slot configuration with 9GB. No accessible official offer page publicly confirmed those figures. They are comparison leads, not a verified cheapest-hosting verdict. The article also does not provide independent tests proving uptime, latency or gameplay performance for either plan.
Price comparisons are only meaningful when the currencies, taxes, slot counts, memory, billing term and included features match. A smaller or less capable plan can appear cheaper while costing more after the memory or slot upgrade your group actually needs.
How much RAM and how many slots do you need?
Small vanilla group
For a few friends on an official map with little or no Workshop content, prioritize the required slots and a nearby location. Do not pay for a 100-slot configuration simply because the number is available. The 20-slot GTX configuration provides room for a small community, but the provider’s 5GB figure is still guidance rather than a game-published minimum.

Workshop maps and plugins
Modded maps, asset packs and plugins can increase memory use, loading time and administrative work. GTX suggests moving to 8GB for a large Workshop map with mods or a group of 50 or more players. Check every mod’s documentation, remove unused content and watch the server’s memory and console logs after installation. A nominally cheap plan that constantly runs out of memory is not a good value.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsLarge community server
GTX’s guidance points to 12GB for a full 100-slot server running a large modpack. At that scale, compare CPU resources, backup policy, support response and upgrade pricing as carefully as RAM. No independent performance tests are published for these figures, so no provider can be declared fastest or most reliable from these figures alone.
Location, latency and reliability checks
A host’s advertised location count tells you where servers may be available, not what ping your players will experience. Choose the region closest to most players, then use any provider ping test and, after deployment, have players test from their actual networks. Home broadband routing, peering and peak-time congestion can produce different results from a generic data-center test.

- With the 360 Edition, take your experience to the next level and enjoy the Republic like never before.
- Ubisoft Connect account required to download and install.
Ask or verify the following before committing:
- Which exact datacenter will serve the selected region?
- Can the location be changed later, and is there a migration fee?
- What does “daily backup” mean for retention and restore points?
- Can you download a backup before cancelling?
- What support channel handles a crashed or unreachable server?
- Are DDoS protections included in the advertised price or sold as an add-on?
These questions matter because the vendors publish feature claims but no independent uptime, latency or gameplay measurements are published.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Managed hosting versus running the server yourself
Managed hosting trades a recurring fee for a control panel, provider-maintained machine and support. It is usually the easiest route for friends who want to play rather than administer Linux, networking and backups.
Self-hosting can remove the hosting subscription, but it does not remove the work. Official Unturned guidance uses the Unturned Dedicated Server tool, installed and updated through Valve’s SteamCMD. A server starts as LAN by default. To make it visible over the public internet, you need a valid Game Server Login Token (GSLT) and either Fake IP or port forwarding. The documentation describes Fake IP as easier and adequate for most servers.

DIY setup checklist
- Prepare a machine: use a computer or rented virtual machine that can remain online, with enough memory for your map and mods.
- Install SteamCMD: use Valve’s tool to download and update the Unturned Dedicated Server files.
- Configure the server: set the name, map, slots, difficulty, permissions and Workshop content in the server configuration.
- Create a GSLT: obtain the valid login token required for an internet-listed multiplayer server.
- Choose connectivity: configure Fake IP, or forward the required ports through your router and firewall.
- Test privately: join from the host and another network, check mod downloads and review console errors.
- Automate maintenance: schedule updates and backups, monitor storage and memory, and document how to restore the world.
DIY is not a like-for-like free version of managed hosting. You become responsible for patching, firewall rules, public IP changes, backups, outage recovery and troubleshooting. It can be the cheapest route when someone in the group already has a suitable always-on machine and the skills to maintain it.
Buying decision: a practical process
- Count actual players: choose a slot target that covers your normal peak, not an unrealistic maximum.
- List content: identify official maps, Workshop maps, plugins and modpacks before selecting memory.
- Set a location: select the region nearest the majority of players and plan a real-world ping test.
- Price the complete configuration: include memory or slot upgrades, taxes, backup options and the chosen billing period.
- Check exit terms: confirm refund duration, cancellation timing, data export and backup retention.
- Run a short trial: install the intended content, invite representative players and observe memory, crashes and connection quality.
For a straightforward managed purchase, the GTX configuration is the clearest low-entry offer identified above. For a very small group, an apparently cheaper two- or four-slot plan may be sufficient if its final checkout price is confirmed. For a technically capable owner, the Dedicated Server and SteamCMD route avoids a hosting subscription but shifts all administration to you.
Common pitfalls and fixes
Choosing by slot count alone
Symptom: the server feels unstable after adding a map or modpack despite having unused slots. Fix: inspect memory use, remove unnecessary Workshop items and move to the next memory tier.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Assuming a listed location guarantees low ping
Symptom: players in one country experience lag while a provider’s test looks good. Fix: test from affected players’ networks and ask whether another advertised location is available.
Skipping backup verification
Symptom: a corrupted world or bad mod update leaves no usable restore point. Fix: perform a test restore, confirm retention and keep an independent downloadable copy.
Expecting “free” self-hosting to be effortless
Symptom: friends cannot see the server or it disappears from the public list. Fix: verify the GSLT, configure Fake IP or port forwarding, open the firewall correctly and test from outside the home network.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for different players
- Listed first: Godlike.Host offers Unturned servers with its own game panel, free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day with restore.
- Documented low entry: GTX Gaming’s advertised 20-slot, £6-per-month configuration with 5GB RAM and up to 100GB NVMe storage.
- Best approach for price-sensitive DIY users: run the official Dedicated Server through SteamCMD if you already have an always-on machine and can manage networking and backups.
- Best approach for mod-heavy groups: price a higher-memory tier first; a nominally cheaper plan is poor value if it cannot sustain the chosen content.
- Best approach when comparing other hosts: verify the exact configured price at checkout, because the lower figures reported for some providers were not confirmed on official offer pages.
